New Stricter Law In AZ

I think this was kind of a win in Arizona on the dog attacks that happen.

It makes if a misdemeanor if your dog gets out, or somehow attacks another dog or person. Which I think is good, it holds the OWNER responsible, and they didnt mention anything about BSL's at all.

I think Arizona has it right, punish the owner for allowing a dangerous dog to get loose and attack someone or some other domestic animal, and do not punish the breed!

I wish more states would have laws similar to this and stop with the BSL's which dont accomplish anything and punish good dog owners not the irresponsible ones.

Here is the article and the video.

i agree. punish the owner NOT THE DOGS. should be like that every where else. instead of banning the dogs why not just punish the owners and send the dogs to a obedience class or something like that and teach them right from wrong.
  3. Woo hoo for Arizona! So glad I live here :) It only makes sense to blame the owner. I think aggression is a behavior not a temperament.

Yep, and even if you dog is EXTREMELY dog aggressive, if you give the time and energy you can teach that dog to obey and ignore all other dogs. People just dont take the time to do that.
I am so happy I live in Arizona too! I mean, people do have a prejudice of pitbull typed dogs, but I am so thankful the laws are on my (and all other pitbull owners) side, with punishing the owner, not the breed.
I hope it stays this way!

yes blame the owner not the dog! think about it, if the owner makes the dog aggressive, the dog thinks that its doing something rite, the dogs look up to us and when u make a dog aggressive that's whats its gonna do is be aggressive, its just like teaching a dog to sit once u teach it that it was always remember!

I think each case should be handle as a separate thing from any other case, past or present. Thats how the criminal system works, thats how the dogs system should work. Just because John Joe killed a man and came in before me, doesnt mean that me getting a traffic ticket should be treated the same..

I wish people werent so stupid and could figure this out, one pitbull type dog or other aggressive dog, should not reflect onto the other dogs who have had an issue.

Also if your dog is a known DA you should know better and secure your animal accordingly.

I dont think DA is a taught trait in this breed, it is a natural fact of life. Pitbull typed dogs may be DA and you should always have that in your mind. No matter how cute and sweet fluffy is, he could turn on and you need to be aware of that.
