Three days ago, my husband and I just rescued a 10 week old pit/lab mix! I joined this forum to get all the tips and tricks to raise a great dog!

My biggest concern right now is her growling- when she's being held, out of no where she'll start growling. I think her home life before us was pretty rough and I'm not sure how long she was with her mom/litter-mates. I thought she maybe just did it when she's sleepy and wants to go to sleep, but she now is starting to do it throughout the day, like if I take her out to go to the bathroom and pick her up to go back inside (we haven't quite mastered tall steps yet, which she needs to go up to get back inside the house) she will start growling at me. In the last three days, the growling has gotten louder and it occasionally turns to a tiny bark. She seems to only be growling at me, she occasionally will at my husband but like I said it's mainly when I hold her. She doesn't bite when she growls and she doesn't look like she's going to bite- wondering if we should curtail this behavior or if this is something she'll grow out of with time and being in a loving home? (I also realize that it has only been three days, so I might just be an overly concerned new dog mom :) )

As she’s a rescue, did you get her from a rescue? If yes have they neutered her? If yes then she might be in pain from the procedure, so get her checked out by a vet.
If not, then you’ll have to let her find her feet in a new environment. Best way to overcome behaviour issues in pups imo is in play, find out what games the pup likes and utilise them in a daily routine, handling the pup occasionally during when it’s focus is elsewhere. Any other time let her come to you to be petted and only handle her when you need to such as coming in up the stairs, but put her down at the top.
