I was on here a while ago when I had first gotten my pit bull, Rhys (in avatar). He recently passed away and my boyfriend and I decided on getting another dog a little sooner than planned as his dog, a young German Shorthair Pointer was depressed after my pittie passed and really missing the company. I am now glad he pushed me to look because the new pup is helping me too. We tracked down a lovely bull terrier pup (I have wanted one for years!!) only an hour away. He was the last left in his litter and a little bit older (13 weeks). I think his color might not be totally desirable for showing or breeding but he's a pet for me so I don't mind. Waiting for his ears to go up, the one wants to but the other is not so determined. speaking with vet about possibly taping when he goes to his checkup tomorrow.

The breeder was calling him Mr Jangles so he's Bo, or Bojangles in our house :-)
I'm working on getting better photos of him.

    Ooooooh he's cute!

I don't know a lot about BTs but there are some whose noses I really don't like (they're kind of rounded looking). I like your boy's nose.

Beautiful dog with some great markings and a beautiful head.

The old style Bull Terriers without the overstated egg shaped head that looked like the gull terriers of today are very nice.

    Thanks! I love him :-)
His parents dont have super straight heads but they are not over exaggerated either. Not sure how much he will change as he grows and matures but hoping it stays straighter (like it is now). I also like the straighter profile. I think his markings are really cool he's actually got tri-points and some brindling also. His sirewas tri-coloured with a lot of tan and his mom was all white.

He is a short, stocky thing right now, very excited to see how he grows.

He is a great pup so far, not 1 accident in the house yet!

he is a handsome little dude!
his ears still look pretty heavy, you could tape them up if you wanted as they do not look like they will be standing anytime soon.
taping bull terrier ears is pretty easy with a helper and you really do not need anything except some medical tape to wrap them for a few days.

be for-warned however, some bt's have such heavy/ soft ears that they never stand fully and you should never keep the ears taped for longer then a 2 weeks, some people will keep ears taped for weeks and months and end up with serious ear infections and skin infections around the area.
so if you tape his ears for 2 weeks and they still do not stand up, just accept it and leave them be, he is not a show/stud quality bully so just love him for who he is, a sweet, wonderful, unique pup.

Charity_case, I just had him in for his new puppy appt and she said if I want to try and get them to stand to go ahead and start taping them. His left ear pops up on its own sometimes so hopefully it should stand pretty easily with tape. more worried about the right, more floppy. Anyway, they are taped now. I'll see after I get back from work, I have a short shift today, if I need to get him a cone of shame while his ears are taped. Probably, lol. He doesnt fuss with them when I'm home but he might left to his own devices.

I'd love them to stand but if they don't I'll love him all the same.

Vet says he needs to drop a little weight... still working out how much to feed him, this is the first dog I've had that I dont need to shovel food into to keep his weight!

Generally (and surprisingly-to a lot of people) it's less than what is recommended on the bag of food you feed.

I wouldn't cut him back too much at once...hungry puppies can try to eat inapporpiate things to satiate that feeling.

Whatever you feed now, I would only cut it by a .25 cup. Give it a week, if you don't see changes another .25.

The thing with puppies is, right now, he might be a little over weight and you might be feeding him a bit too much...but two weeks from now he'll be gangly and starving. It's definitely a balancing act. If you find that you've got a good amount of food that keeps his weight in check but he still seems hungry veggies can be added as fillers. They will make him feel full (by taking up space in his stomach) but it is difficult for dogs to get any real nutrition from them...something about cellulose and cellulase. One is the plant wall and the other is what breaks it down. And their stomachs aren't proficient at doing that.

-think green! broccoli, green beans, lettuces, celery, etc

Thanks for the tips, I've always had dogs that I've had to shovel food into- Our German Shorthair eats like a horse and is still very trim!
I'm going to cut him back a little bit, he is pretty tubby right now, and see how he does. I dont mind if puppies are a little round but he's a little too round lol.

He's a bit of a picky eater but I'll see if I can talk him onto the veggies!

I would love to get back to raw- I'm checking into finding an affordable food source for raw in my area. My pitty ate way to much to do raw any way I found it, hoping this guy might not need as much I can afford to do it again.
