Drove down to Belton for our first UKC Show. Athena got three BOWs (only over one other dog though) and then moved up to the Champion class. Both judges Saturday made awesome comments about her so despite the easy wins, I'm very happy and excited about her potential in the ring once she matures a bit more. Hopefully one day I can get that GrCh title on her like her daddy and maternal grand daddy

We started out badly with her hating me hand stacking her but she looked and acted great by the end of the weekend. I got to show a Carolina Dog in the Champion class yesterday too so I'm getting a bit more comfortable with handling the more experience I get.

It was of course nice hanging out with other Silken people!

Congrats! When I first scrolled down, I expected to see an APBT on the end of that lead. Little bit fuzzy for an APBT. I'm starting to warm up to Silkens. The guy who does a lot of photography for us has several.

Yeah, shes a wee bit fluffy and pointy haha. Maybe one day Ill have one ...but as of right now Im already planning on another Silken puppy XD They really are awesome little dogs.

Thanks everyone. I thought I would get a Barn Hunt title on her before Conformation lol. Did NOT expect that to be her first title at all!

    Do Silkens race?

Yes! In fact, her daddy has his GRC with the LGRA which is straight racing. NOTRA (oval racing) also recognizes the Silken Windhound and of course they can do UKC coursing. We'll be getting involved in all that once she is older. I really, really want to do open field coursing too.

Cool! Is open like Grand Coursing? Like tromp through fields for live rabbits? That shit looks intense!

beautiful pup, and congrats on the win!

forgive my ignorance, but what is a BOW?

Yes, hunting for live prey. :)

Thanks, it means Best of Winners. So dogs compete in their age class divided by male and female. The first place winners from each class then come back to compete for Best Male and Best Female then those to face off for Best of Winners. Then the winner goes on to compete against the winners of the Ch and GrCh classes for Best of Breed.

Oh man! It looks so cool and seriously hard core. Idk if I'd have to guts to do it with some of the stories about losing dogs out there or having to hike out carrying your dog.
