man...i want a lizard SO bad. I want to wait till i am in a more secure situation though so I can get one that is not just captured from the yard...I was so sad when Jobe didn't survive and I don't want a repeat.

i would so recommend leos. they are a lot of fun have little personalities and seem to enjoy interacting with you. though it is really easy to want more...i am so scared that i will go to the place i got the girls from tomorrow to get feeders and will see a cute leo and want it...i avoid the breeder for a reason lol. the only thing that is stopping me for sure is i don't have a quarentine tank which may be a good thing :)

I guess you avoid the shows a lot then?
I use bins when I have Leos, personally. They seem to be much more willing when they come out and walk around during the day.
But a big yes on Leos as a first lizard. Those and Cresties are the best beginners, IMO

I know how you feel. When Repticon comes around i get the "gimmes" something awful!

D'awww. Sin and Cornflake wouldn't step outside for much except for past midnight, no matter how many hides I stuck in there. But they sure did love that tupperware moss hide to death

see i always thought i have backwards leos they are always moving around. in the beginning when they were hatchlings they were always hiding and they wouldn't come out until the light went off but now they are out all the time. it started with being out in the mornings like 7 then it slowly started creeping thru the day and now they are out more then they hide...not sure if it is good for them BUT they do it themselves and they have several hides they do take their "naps" in hides though.

I don't know of many that are fond of coming out during the day, but hey, if that's what they feel like doing then more power to them, I say

awww I love your girls so much, and that pic of sprinkles and monster truck, OMG so cute!!!!

Xannis actually comes out and moves from one hide to the other in the daytime, and back again, like to regulate herself better I think

I had a dream last night I just reached in and grabbed her, she bit me and it didn't hurt but she calmed right down, no blood or anything but yea it was a dream so maybe one day soon, she still wont walk across our hands but she doesn't get so agitated with us but havn't messed with her for 2 days, I just passed out yesterday lol

    thanks :)

aww that sucks that you haven't been able to handle her yet :(

yea, I am so eager but she is so small I don't want to stress her, so slow and easy, I just hope some day soon she will just start crawling into our hands so we can actually attempt to pick her up without her freaking out and biting lol

you know my husband wanted the geckos for years before we got them he told me if we got them he would do everything for them. The first thing i had to do for them for him was handle them. He said he was afraid because they were so tiny that he would squish them but i think he was fearful of getting bitten. He would handle Steve because she was tamed fast but he wouldn't hold the skittish other 2 so because of that i assume he was afraid of getting bitten even though he wouldn't say it. i got bitten once by a leo at the store when i got my savannah monitor so i already knew what it feels like and it wasn't bad so i just got in there with them. i think they have to really be mad at you to bite you and have it really hurt. it is more of a suprise then anything else.

I went to get feeders today and i was very good i did not come home with another gecko :) Though I did ask them about getting another one and they told me they have some that are about the girls age though and are less expensive since they are not hatchlings so.....maybe in a few months. they did have a little baby hypo tangerine though soooo cute. I got the girls some Dubia Roaches....OMG they are nuts for them

Nice, yea I am scared of getting bit but not because of the pain, of the startling, I really don't care about the bite, its the me jerking and hurting her that scares me lol. I hope I can get the hubby to do it for me :D

good for you, you resisted :D I keep having to resist I want another already but I want to be able to handle this one 1st lol. I wish there was Dubia roackes up here but I have never seen them around, just mealworms and crickets, I think they would probably be to big right now anyhow. I am glad your girls like them that rocks, its always good to give variety I think

that is what my husband said he was afraid he would squish them from reaction :) i think though i have really bonded with them as much as you can bond with a reptile since i have been providing them with all their care (he gets off free since he is deployed) they are going to be so well behaved by time he gets home.

omg if they would have shown me the ones the girls age it may have been much harder lol. it is easy to resist the babies because i know they would have to have their own habitat and i have NO room for that.

the girls refuse crickets and have been slower about eating mealies so i needed something else. I orgionally went there for Phoenix worms but the guy started showing me they had Dubia roaches and i was for sure going to get those instead. i got them at the reptile store aka the breeder (they breed all their stock)
