My boy is 9 months old and I still can't guess the mixed breed(s) :D

    Hi,
not sure if you remember but I posted a thread when my boy Woody was 2 months old.
He's now 9 months old and he weighs in 74lbs (33,5kg). He's around 24 inches (60cm) at the shoulder. His growth has finally began to slow down as he put on only 1.5 kg in the past month. So I have 2 questions: how much you think he's going to weigh when full grown? I hope not too much more as he's already an elephant haha
Second question is: he really looks like a red nose pitbull to me, but bigger and with longer snout and longer ears. So I can't figure out what breeds he might be mixed with. Sometimes I think Rhodesian Ridgeback (they are very popular in Italy at the moment so it's not impossible). His brother really looks like a Cane Corso but they are much leaner then them. So I'm not sure :D I'm just curious. His mum only weighs 55lbs (25kg) so his dad must be a bigger dog i guess :D
    Thanks

He is close to the same size as my Frankie is right now, at 6 years old, she is 71lbs and 25" tall. At 9 months, she was 60lbs and 22" tall, so your boy still has some growing to do.
As for breed, just make something up. We're guessing Frankie is Golden/Boxer, but could have some Lab and/or Pit in her as well.
My little dog, Rikki is almost 3 and we have NO idea what she is. Hubby was told purebred Pit when we got her. Her DNA says Staffy/Chow.
She's 38lbs, 20" tall, but looks a lot smaller. Our latest guess is Staffy/Rat.

Frankie & Rikki are the two on the right. (Frankie always looks serious in pics, but she is far from it! LOL)

To me it looks like there's quite a bit of Lab and Golden Retrv. in him....
    Good looking dog though.

What makes you say lab? I really don't see it :D He's also very lean and tall, and has super short coat not sure what he has of a lab or golden retriever :D

Oh my god what a cute pack :) Your small dog with pointy ears almost looks like a basenji/pit mix. But who knows :)

I agree.. I didn't immediately think of Lab either.. I saw a tad bit of Great Dane with the length as I am around Danes a good bit at the shelter and they all have a lean/lanky appearance .. Your dog is beautiful! Love the coloring, the eyes and build of him. Can't wait to see how he turns out when full grown!!

and be mindful that there is probably a quarter of several breeds in the blood.. so when I say 'great dane' my assumption is maybe a great dane mix dad?? The guessing game is what makes owning a mixed breed fun!!

I was going to say lab too because of the head and face. But his body does not look like a lab's to me. He is so tall and lean. His legs seem much different than a lab's. I have a friend who has a purebred RR and her body is long, lean, and muscular like his dog.

I never considered a Great Dane...that might be it.

Yeah could be! and actually his long face kinda reminds me of a dane's face. But he's much much smaller. Could be though. Also, I was thinking, most of the mastiff-type dogs (including danes) probably all descend by the same old breeds so that's why once you mix them they all resemble each other a bit. Could be mixed with a mastiff, a corso, a boxer, a Dogo, a Dane, so on. We'll never know i guess :D ... but yea. I love owning mixed breeds (I also have a Gsd mix female with huge ears :)) .

Anyway, I found a photo of Woody's mom (on the right) and brother. Maybe they give you more ideas of the mixes :) I think his mum might be pit/boxer :) There are also 8 more siblings (poor mom haha ) and some look like him, some look more like his mum, a couple even look like hunting dogs! (but maybe there were more than one fathers who knows) :)

oh yeah.. def. some boxer in there.. I use to have brindle boxers and this is a very similar stance and chest of a boxer in my opinion..
