Wide range and depending on my mood. At our house, it could be anything from Beethoven to Motown, to older hip hop, very select Country (Willie Nelson), to the Stones and Elton John (my hubby's faves) and back to Tchaikovsky :).

Pretty big variety. Country (not pop country!!), bluegrass, bluesy rock, indie rock, folk, southern rock, classic rock... As long as it's got a good banjo or guitar and a decent voice I'm in.

Love the blues! Only country i like is George Jones, Hank, Waylon ect and maybe a select few from today and a select few from the late 90's to early 2000's. Very picky with rap and hip hop, 99% of what i hear today is complete trash. Grew up on classic rock. Love classical also.

Lots of variety, depends on the moment. I've been into old soul music lately, especially Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye at dinnertime, just perfect for chilling. Classic rock during the day, cranking up the Zeppelin helps with the housework! Bluegrass, too, it always makes me happy. Hubby loves blues, and we also listen to some blues/world crossover stuff like Tinariwen and a few musicians from Mali.

    Hi there brother!!!
You are not alone in this forum as far as music goes, I'm a professional musician for the last....let me see...almost 50 years.
I play drums and also percussion, the music I like the most is Jazz and by extension everything of what I call Afro-American music, that goes from blues, funk, soul, Gospel, afro-cuban music salsa, etc. and Brazilian music.
I also like other stuff, some rock artists, classical music (Ravel,Debussy, etc.)and many many more things.

Obviously to make a living I have played also other thing besides jazz, lots of pop and rock, plenty of steady gigs in clubs and hotels for many years, backed up singers, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, etc.
Now there is much much less work than in the previous decades, you know, less clubs more Karaoke, pay for play etc. and at my age and experience I don't move from home for peanuts, only if it is with great musicians and only for the afro-american stuff.
I also have a nice recording studio (for the last 26 years), kind of nice, a nice control room wired with a nice playing room, not to big but I have a nice Steinway & Sons upright piano and surely a good collection of Gretsch drum sets, plenty of cymbals and percussion, some nice microphones and some good mic pres, a Fostex G16S like new but it's been years I haven't used, people don't want to spend in tape most of the time so i go all digital with the computer.
I have recorded and produced a few albums mostly jazz and some creative singer song writers and music for film,
theater and modern dance that I have composed and arranged.

I actually trained in classical piano since I was a toddler and classical ballet so I grew up on classical music although I favor classic rock... hehe
I appreciate every genre of music. Do I love every song, absolutely not. Although I could appreciate old hip hop, I cannot stand 99 percent of it now. Other than that, I like all! Nursery rhymes all the way to heavy metal. :)

Very very cool! What kind of pres and mics are your favorite? I just sold a Neumann TLM 67 about a month ago, loved it on female vocals, especially intimate and up close, just had this great mid forward quality about it. Still have my U87 (Vintage), Manley Reference Cardioid and my Shure SM7B. Sold a lot of mics this year really lol and yes, nobody really does tape anymore. Some of today's plugins emulate the sound so well but at the same time, recording into Pro Tools has made artists and musicians lazy with the whole "we will just fix it in the mix" theory instead of rehearsing more. Totally understand not wanting to leave the house unless the $$ is right. I work with a few artists that are truly passionate about their craft, i don't charge them as much as i do the people who really don't give a big shit lol.

Same here.. So you're good on the ivory's huh?

Love 'Hotel California' and remember an eerie drive through Death Valley at dusk, and it was on the radio at some point. Great stuff, perfect scenery for the music, or vice versa.
