Hey everyone!! wow.. I didn't realize I'd been away from the forum so long until I signed on and had 25 notifications!! It's been a tad busy here with work, with spring festivities and all my outdoor play time now that the weather has pulled through.

For those who helped me with advice on Millie when I first asked about running her in an upcoming 5k for the local Mutt Strut, I wanted to let you guys know she did cross the finish line just over 40 minutes!! Which is what I had hoped for, as her mile time alone use to be roughly 40 minutes.. We did have some hiccups, she laid down out of fear a couple of times over a bridge that you could see through and then again at the finish line when all the people at the finish line were cheering her on.

But after further evaluating the scene and realizing she was safe, she stood up and crossed over to finish.

I think the reward isn't the time at all with her.. it was that she did something that seemed somewhat fearful to her and pressed on, completing the run. So , just wanted everyone that helped with advice and gave me input on the whole training process to know that she survived and thank you again for helping!!

I really appreciate that! Thank you. My goal was 40 minutes and we ended up getting it done around 45 I believe?? If she wouldn't have stopped or laid down just prior the finish line it would have worked itself out.. I learned a lot about her kinks and hiccups.. she can't stand cop cars, flashing lights and COP uniforms.. every time we passed one at the intersection.. she literally slowed to a rolling crawl as she tried to be invisible.

I'm glad we did it.. so now I won't feel like we will need to do it again.. She had fun but seemed unsure at the same time.. I'm going to stick with the hiking trails for her.. those are her absolute favorite!!
