I am having a hard time finding a breeder in Lower Michigan. Any help would be great. Thank you.

There's a rescue group up in eastpoint/warren area called Misfit Angels. Look them up! I will never buy from a breeder. All my dogs are rescues. :)

Oh aren't you holier than thou because you "rescue." :no2: The guy asked for a breeder referral, who gives a shit if YOU would never buy from a breeder (as if getting a dog from a breeder is somehow a bad thing)? I'm sure the OP has his perfectly legitimate reasons for wanting a dog from a breeder.

G4G, look up Howard's working APBTs for a start. Several of their dogs are Amstaffs but they have a few decent APBTs. I would stay away from Wolf Moon unless you want to be taken for one hell of a ride, despite the fact that they have a couple decent dogs as well. Those are the only two breeders I can think of off the top of my head in Michigan. Pretty slim pickings. If you're willing to travel a bit or look in to shipping a pup, your options will be far greater.

Thank you Seven. It is slim pickings. I wrote Howard's working dogs. I looked in to a few places out of state, but buy the time I paid shipping it would be $1700 at all the places. I Don't have a problem paying $1200 for a pup. I have showed Labs in the past, and want to get into showing Amstaffs at a local level. I need a dog that can be AKC reg. and a rescue will not fit the bill most of the time. Thanks again

Ha, didn't realize I was in the AST subforum, my bad. Howard's is still the only AST breeder I know of in Michigan though right off hand. Honestly I would save my pennies and get on a waiting list for awhile, the added cost would be worth it IMO. If it were me, I'd take a look at Alpine Falls ASTs in WA. Good breeder, great handler, very down to earth. If nothing else perhaps they could give you a referral to someone closer to you.

Guy4God- Your going to have an awfully hard time getting a quality show dog being un-willing to travel. Many breeders are not willing to simple ship out a show quality puppy to just anyone. I suggest, looking around for a breeder in nearby states, IL, WI, OH and while you are loking-start a savings account for gas money and plan a trip to go and pick up a puppy.

Yup, this. And keep an eye out for shows both here and in the surrounding states. Go to a few of those, meet some folks and check out some dogs. It'll take awhile but should be worth it.

You'd be surprised the deals you can get on flights.. Barrett flew on American Airlines and it was only $150 from AZ to VA. Granted, his breeder gets a discount, but even before that it wasn't terrible.

And-while I might seem like a lot to begin with-in the end, you WILL be getting what you pay for instead of simply settling with a lesser quality dog.

$150-$200 is not bad. I was told from several breeders it would be $400-$500.

Well like I said, my breeder gets a discount, but I don't think it was much more than $300 without it.

It was 300$ to ship Phoenix at 45lbs. I can't imagine a pup shipment would be more.
