    hey all

Need some advice, I have a 8 week old Bullie pup named McFadden, any way he stepped off the deck and hurt his outside left toe, he puts weight on it, don't seem to hurt when i touch it, but does limp a little, there is some swelling.is there anything i can give him for the swelling,we iced it but being a pup he dont sit still long, a small douse of benadryl for pain i assuming is OK. he is rambunctious as ever.

Benadryl is not for pain. Don't give your young pup drugs! If your that worried go to a vet, but stop the "medication".
    Do not give aspirin.

If he sprained it or twisted it and seems ok but a bit gimpy. Wait 3 days. It will get better or if it's not back to normal go to the vet.
Remember WE are just a forum. We are not vets and can not see your dog. You could get stupid or dangerous advice from people who don't know better...

Then let a vet prescribe it.

....Benadryl doesn't do anything for pain unassociated with allergies. It's benadryl. Also, you can stick that attitude elsewhere

Thanks allot for showing us your maturity level.

    I'll go slow this time...
Your vet did not prescribe this med for your puppy, McFadden, who is only 8 weeks old. Just because a vet tells you you can give a certain med to a certain dog, does not mean it would be ok to give it to ALL dogs. Especially a young pup.
    Hoo Boy...
