I have only ever seen one person with one and that is on bull dog breeds forum. She is pretty seriously into Schutzhund with hers.

The overall construction (dispite the face) doesn't look to bad. But I also would like to understand the reason for creating them. I must admit I would MUCH rather see these dogs become popular as oppose to some of the Ambullys nowdays-the ones that look like friggin hippos who cant even move.

Hey just found this thread through a random google search and wanted to post....

These dogs come from 100% renascence bulldogs (I own one of the dogs in the original post and I will post his pedigree with some "better" pictures)

The original intention of these dogs was to be working dogs... I have worked and trained mine in IPO, weight pull, PSA, tracking ect.

These dogs are still mutts like all of the alternative bulldog breeds but they still only consist of anything that was put into the original RB's. They are essentially fuzzy RB's nothing more and nothing less.

"The original intention of these dogs was to be working dogs"....so I ask, what can they do that an existing breed isn't capable of?

why do American bulldogs compete in IPO when its a GSD sport? why have several different ratting breeds of terrier, why use several different breeds as detection dogs? because certain people like certain aspects about certain dogs that fit their lifestyle, abilities and experiences... I happen to like this dog as a working dog because they are small, compact, portable and I like the bulldog personality more then the herder, but want something smaller then an AB and Pit bulls and pit bull type dogs are illegal here... so the long hair saves the BSL from being up my ass about him.

Where in the RB's did the coat come from? There were some lines of American Bulldog that carried for a longer, soft fluffy coat, they tried to keep it secret for a while, but it was kind of hard to hide. To paraphrase Lee's question, why make a working breed so brachycephalic? It looks like the RB's have produced more generations than I would have guessed, has anyone put any mid to upper level working titles on them? They look like they've got the drive and desire, and they're always referred to as working dogs, how are they panning out? Especially in a bitesport, while I compete actively in weight pull, I don't consider it to be proof of working ability, unless we're talking about a really high level. Finally, has anyone health tested anything yet? All that bitchiness aside, they look like a fun little dog, but not something I would want over an APBT. For BSL, how about a nice working boxer or schnauzer?

rumor is it comes from St Bernard being used in Johnson AB's (which would explain it in the AB) as well as Hermes Olde english bulldogges (which makes up 50% of the RB make up). with heavy inbreeding bringing it out since its a recessive gene.

I don't think my dog is brachycephalic at all, I can't speak for others, but I own 3 of them from the same bloodline and none of them are what I would consider brachy at all. My dogs have very high drive, almost extreme but they are hard and difficult to control, OB can be a challenge when it comes to competing at upper levels along with herders and its a lot of work (as with all of the bull breeds). I trained in IPO for the first two years of his career but its difficult to find a club that will work with a real protection dog as opposed to a dog who works in all prey and takes the protection aspect as a game which is why I have switched to PSA with him this year, we JUST got out first PSA club in my Country this summer and had our first trial last weekend so its very fresh and new for all of us here but we are excited.

I am not interested in a boxer or a schnauzer... I like the bully personality. The only other breeds I would even consider besides this breed would be an AB or an APBT. But I am happy with the dogs I have now and don't plan to add to my collection any time soon.

Who trades in a bully for a Schnauzer lol.....

its a mixed bag with the health testing, the kennels I know of who are working hard with this bloodline as working dogs are very good at health testing, but like bully breeds you also have that 99% who really don't give a shit about it, breed for colors, big heads and low drive....If you research some of the working kennels you will see a very different looking dog then what is the traditional RB.

This dog is OFA prelim Good at 16 months and Cerf normal in 2012.

They're kind of neat looking to me.

But, since I got a Brussels Griffon, my tolerance for ugly-cute has really shifted.

Thanks for posting luckysarah. I was wondering if there was Black Omen in those dogs. I can definitely see it!

Like I said in another thread, I hope the alternative bulldog movement will eliminate and replace the AKC bulldog some day soon. Im thankful people are trying to recreate the OLD bulldog before it become a genetic nightmare.

I don't like the Bulldog or American Bulldog but I really like Renascense Bulldogs. :) I'm kind of liking the long haired ones too.

We try to really focus on FUNCTION, and I think the hair (besides helping them in our cold climates) separates them from the typical dogs that you see...if you are looking for a dog based only on the way it looks then a mammut from us is probably not the right type of dog for you.... of course I am already seeing people taking the hair and treating it as some kind of color type fad which is a shame but that will happen with anything really.... you can't control everything right. You can only do what is right for you.

We got a new puppy as well, she is also 100% RB bloodline but from the american side of the pond, her name is shuck, we have already started training her for French Ring :)

personally I think this is a really neat looking dog.
I would love to see one on the move or working. Do you have any video clips of yours that you would be willing to share?
