I am always very interested in peoples different opinions on the breed, especially on how long they have actually been in the breed ?

Some people will be on their first bull terrier and have this whole wealth of knowledge they want to share :D

I mean when i start reading that head shape affects drive or a correct round head means a dog cant grip correctly etc ,its pretty obvious people on here are very inexperienced with the breed ;)

I generally use the international bull terrier forum, its a place where the knowledge is so deep that even people thats been in the breed a long time can learn something new as I do ,i ent knocking this place as it can be fun and good for a giggle but on here i can count on one hand the posters whose opinion i value :)
IMO some of the bull terrier owners on this forum would be better off with another breed ...APBT ?? :D

If you have something to say to show that people are wrong in some aspect, then say it, don't just insult people.

Invite some of those Knowledgeable people here then, that is what these forums, and sub-forums are supposed to be for, to help educate people. I'd love to hear from people in the breed that are very knowledgeable, so, invite them, so, the board can benefit from their experience.

I don't think its right for me to use someone else's photos when I'm not exactly flattering their dog, but here is a link to the first thread i opened in the photos section of the international bull terrier forum:

    Ch.Carradice Golden Bullet of Niroux

If you're onboard with the twenty-some others who don't think this dog is overweight at all... Well I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'll stick to my APBT like you said.

Oh yep, I do agree that this guy is overweight. There does seem to be a "fattening up for a show" trend in some countries lately. I notice it more in males than females though.

I've got to agree he is fat, I've been around Very muscled 70lb bullies and they don't look like sausages...

wow...that dog isnt fat, its obese

    BULLTLOTT Little Dog

They're in such denial about the dog being overweight as well. :no2:

that is FUNNY. I was the one to mention he was over weight in the forum and everyone got so mad and defensive, Im just saying...if you take your dog out to take just a photo and he starts to pant you should be a bit concerned...jk jk ....

Whether someone has been in the breed for 5 minutes or 5 years doesn't mean they don't have an opinion or preference. I love APBTs and BT, and as similar as they are...they also have major differences besides just looks. I prefer a well put together dog, but also a dog that is athletic and driven. That goes for ANY breed. Also just because someone has a different opinion than another person doesn't make them uneducated. There are plenty of educated people on this forum.

When did i say they didn't have an opinion ?
Nothing wrong with a fit bull terrier ,i prefer them ,as you know i jog with mine, so when did i say otherwise ?
K When i was saying that most of the posters on here are inexperienced, it had little to do with whether they have the right to their opinions or not,I was just pointing out that some people on here may have only eva owned one bull terrier yet i just found it comical that they acted like they had been in the breed for years and owned dozens

I don't think I can count myself as particularly knowledgeable, and don’t particularly know what the latest show trends are in the bully world. However if I can put my 2p worth in, I don’t like dogs that push the extremes of a breed, particularly where those extremes relate not to fitness but to the look of the dog. it reminds me of other breeds that at one point in there history were healthy working dogs but though years of selective breeding for looks alone has lead to a gross and unhealthy caricature of what the dog once looked like. I would hate for bullies to go that way.

Ooops, I made it sound like it's insulting to have someone say that you should own an APBT! Didn't mean it like that, it would actually be quite a compliment!

I meant to say that it's insulting to tell us that we shouldn't own a breed that we currently own!

I have NO experience with bull terriers aside from my recently acquired rescue, however, we mostly talk about health, training, activities, photos, etc which I beleive I have a fair bit of experience/ opinions and so it's silly to refuse to listen to someone just because that experience is not with a certain breed but with dogs in general.

And actually, I enjoy listening to people even if they have no experience with anything! That is what makes it a discussion board, not a class room!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but I wanted to send this to you, Mr. Pedigree but you're not recieving PM's.

I think our comments got a little out of hand in the last couple of threads, and I just wanted to clear the air because I don't like getting into arguments too much (although I have to admit it's sometimes pretty fun to have a heated discussion :) )

Even though there are some things we disagree on, we're obviously on the same page on loving our breed of choice and our dogs.

I can definitely come off as ridiculously opinionated and quite harsh with my words, and I think that I get this way because social rules/conventions seem to go away when you're chatting in a forum versus face to face. I just want to let you know that I do respect you, and what you do for the breed. Although I don't know you well at all, it is clear to me that you are one of those owners/breeders that are really helping the breed.

If you're ever going through the north of Florida, send me a message and I would love to meet up, grab a drink, and talk about bull terriers!
