  2. I think he has been in this particular home for only 2 weeks so far. He has a lot of medical issues so he likely isn't going to be moving in with us right away.
  3. Well Shannon is making a vet appointment for Jasper for next week for his heartworm treatment, then he can come home to me!!! YIPPEEEEE:D

I'm very happy for you adding a rescued pit to your family! :stars: I hope all goes well. Continue to keep us updated!
  6. Oh don't worry I will!! You will get so sick of pictures LOL. I am stocking up on some pit bull safe toys for him since he is going to be on crate rest when he gets here. Anyone have any suggestions beyond Kongs, and the Natural Bones? My female has severe allergies so she can't have any of the food dispensing type toys or flavored toys so I'm not used to buying them.

The goughnut or a nylabone. :)
  8. Well Jasper should be at the vet now getting his first dose of heartworm treatment, will get second dose tomorrow and hopefully comes home to me on Friday!

:stars: Congrats... and remember, pictures please!! :)
  10. Well I spoke to Shannon yesterday afternoon. The vet did x-rays and bloodwork yesterday before starting treatment and they only gave him the one dose of treatment yesterday because they said his heart was quite enlarged. :(They want him to return in a month for the 2nd dose instead of giving it to him today. He should be arriving here Friday afternoon. Does anyone have any helpful pointers on how to keep a 2 year pit who used to roam the streets content while on crate rest? :confused:I bought lots of toys (2 Kongs, 1 Rubber Tire look a-like toy that you can stuff with things, 3 All Natural femur bones) but I can't imagine it is going to be easy keeping him calm for the next 30-60 days. Also would you give him access to water in the crate, or let him out several times to drink? I guess I'll have to see how bad he is about spilling it everyewhere, I wonder if I can teach him to use a water bottle? We used to have Lixit spouts in CCI's kennel and when the new dogs came in we had to teach everyone how to use them. Some peanut butter on the spout while pushing it with your hand to let the water come out usually did the trick.

He's beautiful! Now on to the tricky part of keeping him quiet!

:D Congrats on your new boy! Good luck with him
  13. Believe it or not he is very quiet all on his own. My kids are on vacation at my mothers house so it is just my husband and myself today and he has been out of the cage with us all day. I leave the cage door open and I also put his blanket on the floor wherever we are, and he plops down next to us and just hangs out. If we can't watch him he gets put in his cage not only to keep him quiet but also because he has a "marking" issue. I have his leash on him and I hold the end of it so that if he goes to mark he gets a "NO" and a leash correction. He has not even tried today after 2 corrections yesterday.
  14. This is what he does all day:

He is such a little ham! look at those eyes:) Ya just wannt 2 go up 2 him and give him a hug and a smooch. He looks soooooooooooooo cuddley.
  17. Thanks thats my hubby in the picture with him. Turns out he really is a mommas boy though. He is GLUED to me, it's quite cute.
  18. Well he totally LOVES the kids:

And this is my youngest employing the "ignore the dog and he will stop being a nudge" tactic:
