I'd LOVE to have a 'LIKE' button! Is there anyway that you could enable that feature for us? I all the time just want to hit a 'LIKE' button for peoples posts. :dance2:

I am not sure how that works - Vicki or Shon will have to answer that. I've seen it on other forums and it is pretty cool, like a 'thank you' button when a post is helpful or informative.

Although it is nice to receive and very easy to give a *like* comments are so much better. I like the way posts get a lot more replies on here than some other forums just because there is no like button. People also reply thank you which is nice and on top of all that it bumps the thread back up for maybe more replies. JMO any way :)

We have used it in the past, and it got political. This clique would like this post and not that post. It got pretty obvious after awhile, especially in a debate or argument when everybody was being a butt.

Not be the party popper, but I feel the like button has minimized conversation on Facebook. I'm guilty of it. Just hitting "like" so the person knows you like something is kind of lazy. I prefer to explain why I like something, or have a conversation about it. Likes bore me. I like commenting, it keeps me engaged.

We can try this.lol...

YES!!! Awesome!! LOL!

Yeah, I understand ur point about the whole Fb thing.
I mean someone quoting a post and saying " I Agree" or " I second this" just clutters things. When/ If people have things to say, they will say them regardless. Sometimes we don't have any thing to add to a good post, but, saying "I agree" is just eh.
I also think it gives people who don't normally like to COMMENT, a way to show their views by what they 'LIKE'.

either way, Just thought it was worth the discussion ;)

Another question (not sure how things are stored/managed) What would it do to the servers and functionality of the forum as a whole? Would it slow it down having to keep track of all the likes? What kind of work would have to be put into actually adding a like button?

This!!!! Although I often find myself looking for the "Like" button on here simply because of FB

I do get this.

However, there are many times when I read a post and don't have anything remotely of value to say, or it's already been said so I just don't write anything at all. In those cases, it would be nice to have the like button as an option to give kudos when you wouldn't otherwise comment.

I was actually thinking that it would save server space to not always have the "this!" and "good post!" posts.

A lot of the "this" or "good posts" comments with nothing else to add, get deleted due to lack of adding anything to the thread itself. Sometimes those comments, as well as just a smiley face, have been used to just run up posts counts. :)
