[IMG]SAY NO TO IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP!
No one should ever be injured by a dog, and we are vehemently opposed to scoff-law, irresponsible dog owners. New York State's breed neutral dangerous dog laws are among the most effective and comprehensive in the country.

Breed specific legislation does not work. It uselessly targets law-abiding dog owners with well-managed dogs and gives wrong-doers a free pass!
[IMG]SAY NO TO PROFILING AND DISCRIMINATION!
Breed specific laws use the PRETEXT of dangerous dog law as a way to pressure "certain people" living in "certain neighborhoods" out of the area. Poor and minority dog owners are the first casualties of breed specific legislation.

[IMG]SAY NO TO GUESS WORK, WASTE AND JUNK SCIENCE! Breed specific laws are expensive to enforce, and require animal control officers to "guesstimate" dog breeds. They are opposed by every credible animal welfare organization in the country.
Don't let the bad old days return! In New York we judge dogs and dog owners by their actions. Not their appearance.

Thanks Michele. I have surgery that following morning, but I'm sending out flyers, contacting all my friends, and will at least try to make an effort to support this cause. It's not just Pit bulls, but Pugs, Maltese and Cocker spaniels. We need to let our feelings be known and now. I'm planing a vigal at the local park in my town. I just might make our paper. The time has come to say, "We are tired of this shit and we are not going to take it anymore."

  6. THIS IS A GREAT IDEA! I'M GOING TO DO THIS IN MY TOWN! I'M GOING TO STAND OUTSIDE OF WAL-MART AND PASS OUT FLYERS TO EVERYONE WHO WILL TAKE ONE! I'M GOING TO GO TO THE LOCAL NEWS PAPER AND TALK TO THEM ABOUT POSTING IT IN THERE!

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHAT EVENTS SHOULD GO ON AT THE VIGIL? SHOULD I LIKE GET WRIST BANS SAYING "LIGHT A CANDLE SAVE A LIFE" WOULD THAT BE COOL? MAYBE EVEN GET TOGETHER AND GET DOGGIE TOYS AND TREATS? :p I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS! PLZ HELP ME COME UP WITH IDEAS!

I'm just planning on speaking about the importance of good dogs, bad owners and about how many dogs, cats are left in shelters to die every day. About BSL. Anything I can think of. I have made signs of dogs with kids, dogs being put to sleep, dogs starving, you get the idea.

You guys, I'm am so proud of myself. I had no idea how to organize this Vigil, but I just took a leap of faith and it has carried me far. I have a press release coming out in the newspaper and our little local paper is going to come and take pics of the event. It's being broadcast on a local station, and if that wasn't enough, the Humaine Society has agreed to come and help with the "preaching" and owner responcibility. Spay and nueter clinics and I'm Just so excited. I'm just going to spread the love. Wish all of you could come. Pray that we have a good turnout....;)
