This was how Dakota slept with me all the time. Sadly she passed and now I have 4 dogs....no dogs on my furniture now....they sneak in bed once I fall asleep though.

We have a king size bed, and when my husband's home dogs aren't allowed to sleep in it.
    1. They are mood killers and always seem to wanna "watch" and get all up in our space when we do the deed. My husband is gone for 10-14days at a time and only home for a couple. So I don't need the dogs killing that special time lol!
    2. My husband can't stand seeing Leon's dog hair in the bed. Even if it's only on Leon's special bed blanket.
So when the husband is home they sleep on their own beds, Leon has a HUGE futon as a bed, Maci has a bed, lined kennel, and another little bed to choose from. I think that suffices for the few days they are kicked out lol!

When my husband is gone, they always sleep in my room or in the bed.

    1. I'm deathly scared of the dark, because of things that have happened in my past. When we first got married at our first christmas at my aunts the power went out due to a storm and I cried so hard. Then my husband thought it was a joke and when we were at home one day he turned all the lights off to play a joke on me, I was BAWLING! Now these two incidents are not why I'm scared lol, my fear comes from something way back. But none the less, my dogs have also really helped me with my fear of the dark when my husband is away, I used to sleep with the hallway light on everynight the first year of our marriage everytime he was away...now I dont! Have I overcome it? Hell no haha I test myself every once in awhile, and I'm still scared shitless. Good thing I can laugh about it now a days though and get past the reason why I'm so scared!

    2. They make great cuddlers Leon always curls up in front and Maci lays behind my neck. Makes me feel not so alone in a place where I feel quite lonely without my husband. [Small town in a different country where I know only but a handful of people, all of whom are much older than me and no fun to hang out with lol]

    3. Just because. I like sleeping with my dogs. Always have, always will. Dominance is a load of crap, my dogs are on my level quite often lol, I've even started letting Leon win at tug o war every so often or letting him run off with a ball he was supposed to retrieve because he just wanted to chew it, he hates retrieving. Yet he STILL listens to me and still respects me, so I'm really not too worries.

Main point...if you wanna sleep with your dogs, do it! They are not going to take over your life. Teach them "Off!" and to only get on the bed when invited if that's a issue for you. My dogs KNOW they better not be in the bed unless I called them up. That's for the sake of keeping them off when the husbands home LOL!

THE ONE PICTURE THAT WILL GET ME KILLED.
lol! This futon is laid out permanently as a dog bed now, but this was the ONLY time my husband has cuddled one of our dogs, poor guy was so tired that day.

I can't even think of a good reason NOT to sleep with my dogs lol

All three of the dogs are allowed on the bed. Only by invitation and only one at a time. Saint likes to literally steam roll me while I'm laying down but she puts off a lot of heat so I like to cuddle up to her while my husband is away at work. Kaida, is a HUGE cuddle slut. Its ridiculous. Her only downfall is she is blowing her coat right now. Domo is allowed to sleep on the very end of the bed and isn't allowed to sleep with us but he sneaks up there sometimes in the middle of the night. He isn't as pushy as the girls are about being in my face ALL the time though.

My dog sleeps with us. She's really good about it. She stays down by our feet, and has no problem moving if we ask her to

Andy used to sleep in the bed with me. However, once he realized I was an annoying bed mate and constantly disturbed his beauty sleep, he called it quits. Prima Donna.

  7. my husband and i fight about titian in the bed! I love my cuddle buddy but my husband says hes sleeps to hard in the bed he wants him to sleep in hallway by kids doors. He says he supposed to watch the house, but i cant help it he puts his face in the crease of my neck and we sleep away thats the best part!

I have a question... when we first got Leon I kenneled Maci at night 1. because she wasn't fully switched over from Pee Pads so I wasn't sure if she could go all night without accident, but mainly because 2. I didn't want something to happen like Leon attacking her or vice versa [she is actually more likely to attack him!]

What about the rule of "Never leave dogs unsupervised"
Because I'll tell ya what once I'm out, I'm out, my husband even more so! And if both dogs decide to get up and go for a drink, to chew on a toy, or whatever how am I supposed to watch them lol.

Or like Destin's issue with her dogs getting in a fight over greeting someone at the door [they had been asleep then the husband/guy came home and they woke up and ran to the door if I remember correctly]. I've had my door knocked on multiple times in the middle of the night while I'm asleep and both dogs jolt awake barking and growling...I'm usually third to wake up because they hear better than me. I'd sleep through the knocking if it wasn't for them.

So with multiple dogs, do you guys think it's safe to let them all sleep with you and do you shut your door to keep them in just in case?

In my case...even before the fight happened I never allowed them both in the bed together. One. I don't have the room...Two. I never have left them alone together even if I'm sleeping. I'm also likely to sleep thru anything so how would I be able to groggilly wake up and separate them? Lol also currently Sebastian's bassinet is right next to the bed, if a fight were to happen (which I could imagine because Willow sleeps under the covers and if Raj didn't see her and moved she WILL attack him ) I wouldn't want something like that happening.
Would I call it irresponsible to keep all dogs on the bed at one time? It depends..
Can the dogs share space without being snarky? Do you have room? Are you aware of what could happen? It's all about knowing the risks and being prepared.
Also. I would keep the door closed lol

Diesel has gotten pretty comfortable sleeping in my bed now, just last week he's woken me up 3 different times trying to get under the covers. He's figured out if he picks my shoulder up he can squeeze his nose under the blankets and slide under them. He is one hell of a guard dog when he's in my bed though, if anyone comes into the room before you get to mine he flips shit, he is at my door barking and growling.

    good point!
Maci and Leon are both a bit possessive over their toys. So I can see if they brought toys to bed a fight breaking out over Maci trying to steal or vice versa. I don't allow toys in the bed though, and I pick them all up at night.

Other than that I've NEVER seen them be snarky/growly/mean with eachother [obviously not that it couldnt/wont happen] Plenty of room in our King bed, and I shut the door too. But after reading your story I think I'm just gonna rotate lol... one night Maci gets to be in bed, and the next night Leon gets to, etc etc... I just couldn't live with Maci and Leon getting into it and Maci getting killed/severely hurt. UGH!

Yeah I don't think so either! I mean what people do is their own choice, but the more I think about it multiple dogs in a bed...especially bully breeds, but any dog really... probably not a good idea. Maci gets the bed tonight, Leon gets his futon bed! I don't think he gives a crap though lol.

I'm glad I don't stress about my two. While I know the risks, I feel comfortable with my two as I know their personalities and what they'll put up with. They handle each ethers company well at bed time. They normally don't sleep next to each ether anyway, Sunny alway sleeps on the bed, under the blankets, at the bottom of the bed normally. Serenity is normally up the top of the bed, closer to me. She randomly will switch between under the blanket, the futon or the small couch.

I'd most likely wake up if a fight broke up anyway. I don't have the heart not to allow them to sleep were they want to. Sunny and Serenity mesh pretty well. They have little small issues here and there but it's quite rare.

Now, if I had my first dog, Guage while I had Sunny, I wouldn't let them sleep together. They fought over the bed several time's. I banished them both from the bed.

I let Dakota sleep on my bed, my grandmother's two sleep with me as well since she dislikes dogs on her bed. I would let Alice sleep on my bed (I would have to rotate since her and Dakota don't get along) except she's a big chewer. She has stuff to chew on, filled Kongs, tough toys, etc, but 8 hours is quite a long time. So she's crated at night.

  20. Big no-no in our house. We live in the city and I just couldn't sleep peacefully knowing that whatever they stepped on was now in our bed. Nope no dog on the bed or furniture.
