it is not worth it. going round and round with a BYB is a waste of breath. $$$$$ is all that matters to them. if the current trend leaned towards the standard, what do you think land of the giants would become?? land of the ADBA standard? LOL! i would bet theyd see the light then...wherever the money is

  2. lETS BE REAL, tHE BREED IS MESSY RIGHT NOW, IF YOU GO AND CHECK OUT THE WEBSITES OF THE TOP MOST RESPECTED APBT BREEDERS ALL OVER THERE IS NOT A GREAT DEAL OF UNIFORMITY. sOME LOOK LIKE LABS, SOME LOOK LIKE BULLDOGS WITH LONG LEGS, SOME LOOK LIKE DWARF MASTIFFS, TOO MUCH "BLOODLINE" TALK. iF THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFULL OF BLODLINES THAT KEEP GETTING CROSSED OVER AND OVER AGAIN THERE ARE GOING TO BE A TON OF FREAKS FROM "PURE BRED" LITTERS. ALSO, ALL THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE BEEN HEAVILY ASSOCIATED WITH THE BREED ENSURES SOME LEVEL OF FRAUD AND FOOLISHNESS. iTS GOING TO TAKE TIME TO SORT THS OUT.

MAYBE ONE DAY APBT WILL HAVE A SOLID STANDARD LIKE WITH ROTTWEILERS(RAISED EM FOR 15 YRS) tHE STANDARD WAS ESTABLISHED IN THE EARLY 1900'S AND THERE ARE STILL FREAK DOGS POPPING UP WITH WHITE SPOTS. NOT TO MENTION, IF YOU MIX A LAB WITH A BOXER OR A BULLDOG YOU COULD EASILY GET SOMETHING THAT CAN PASS FOR A PIT. TOUGH.

Most of the Respected APBT breeders I know of have "uniformed" dogs.

  4. AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHOS RESPECT COUNTS? HONESTLY. SEEMS TO ME, EVERYONE IS JUST TRYING TO VALIDATE THEIR DOGS AND BE "IN THE RIGHT" IF YOU HAVE A BIG HEAD DOG, THATS THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO BE, A SHORT 25LB DOG THAT LOOKS LIKE A BEAGLE/ BOXER, THATS THE WAY ITS UPPOSED TO BE. tHE TRUTH FALLS SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE I THINK. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO REALLY LOVE PITT BULLS AND ARE ACTIVELY TRYING TO MOVE THEM AWAY FROM THEIR "BAD" REPS, THATS A GOOD THING. BUT TRYING TO DESIGNATE THEM AS THIS LITTLE SCRAPPY-LOOKING DOGS THAT ARE ONLY WORTHY OF BREEDING IF THEY HAVE A MILLION ATHELETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS UNDER THEIR BELT IS NOT HELPING. TRYING TO MAKE THEM THIS EXCLUSIVE BREED THAT IS TRADED AMONGST A SELECT FEW "ELITE EXPERTS" WILL BE THE END OF THE BREED. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE OUT THERE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN COMPETITION TO SUFFICE AT THIS POINT. THE BREED MUST BE REFORMED, AGGRESION MUST BE BRED OUT AND PEOPLE HAVE GOT TO DRUM UP SOME REAL SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE LAWS ARE BEING PASSED EVERYDAY! ALL THIS FOCUS ON TITLES AND RIBBONS IS SILLY, FOCUS ON BREEDING GOOD DOGS AND PLACING THEM WITH GOOD FAMILIES WHO WILL RAISE GOOD DOGS THAT ARE GOOD CITIZENS THAT WILL CHANGE PEOPLES PERCEPTION OF THIS BREED. ALL YOUR TITLES AND GOOD INTENTIONS WONT MATTER. STANDARDS ARENT GOING TO HELP WHEN YOUR TOWN OR COUNTY PLACES A BAN. WE NEED TO SHIFT THE FOCUS TO LEGISLATION THAT WILL SUSTAIN AN ENVIROMENT WHERE ALL THIS CAN BE STRAIGHTENED OUT. I'M FOR UNIVERSAL LICENSING AND REGULATION OF ALL DOGS, TOUGH LEASH LAWS, CHAINING BANS, AND LAWS THAT REQUIRE PEOPLE TO EITHER HAVE A DIG-PROOF JUMP PROOF FENCE/KENNEL OR KEEP THEIR DOGS IN THE HOUSE FOR ALL LARGE DOGS, IN CLUDING LABS, GERMAN SHEPARDS, STANDARD POODLES, ETC. ANY DOG CAN BITE. THATS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING RIGHT NOW.

    Why all the caps????

  6. CoolHandJean

    CoolHandJean Krypto Super Dog

No need for all the caps. No need to Yell.

Second, when the dog was not being "changed" by anyone who wanted to make a buck, it was in a better position than it is now, while, it is being changed to "appease" everyone.

If you have a problem with DA, get a breed less prone to DA, don't change the breed, because you don't like One aspect of it. If you want to continue to try to breed DA out of them, there are already two breeds established that are going for that the Amstaff and the Ambully.

I don't personally care if "mainstream America" doesn't want to compete or do things with their dogs, I'd personally like to see less people owning this breed than more, to be quite honest.

What's wrong with chaining dogs Walton?

Walton lets make this easy, get a different breed of dog. What you are describing is the changing of the APBT to Am Staff to Am. Bully. All different breeds that fall under the "pit bull" category.
Viewing your Kennel site what makes your dogs so different?

Regarding temperment you have not listed if any of your dogs have passed the CGC test, been through temperment testing with the ATTS, or even do volunteer work with the public as therapy dogs to better improve public perception. A bunch of these dogs in back yards with families is not going to change the public perception just look at the general publics view of Am. Bullies. The breeders of these dogs claim to already be doing what you are describing should be done, but negative public perception is growing for the most part.

    I see a few 82lbs dogs that are "Redboy/Colby" dogs...

    Redboy/Colby/Razor's Edge...

I hate it when game lines are crossed with other breeds...

And who cares about head size...

To me, that just means your are only breeding for one thing...

Fewer people owning pitbulls would be a huge step in the right direction.

  11. Chaining a dog is ok as long as the dog is placed in an isolated area where they are not constantly tempted by traffic, playing children and other dogs, thats torture. The truth is, APBT'S are escape artist. My dogs can easily clear the average 6ft kennel with ease. We had to chain her in the kennel for awhile untill we found an appropriate top that she could not pry open. Those shade covers with the bungy cords were light work, and she is so strong she can easily tear chain link fencing from the bars. However her kennel is in back of our yard in our fence surrounded by dense trees so its pretty peaceful back there for her. No distractions to tease her with.

The testing is b.s. dogs are animals and unpredictable, a certain smell, voice, can set any dog off, socialization is the key, as well as being aware of your surroundings and educating people who come into contact with your dogs. DA-That must go. Because these guys are so smart and strong and fast thats just too dangerous unless you live on your own little island. I HATE to walk my dog and have a snarling beast run from beside someones house at my babies! I don't hesitate to use my mailman-grade pepper spray with a 6 foot reach.... I along with most people who own pets spend entirely too much time, money, attention and love on my dogs to have them end up in a pool of blood on a sidewalk.

It's ok for a dog to be territorial and bark at strangers that come near your property or other dogs, thats understandable but if you cant't take a dog out on the street without it lunging and snapping at every other dog in sight, thats a problem animal and you have work to do. That should not be acceptable, most people live in communities and theres a certain amount of respect that we need to have for others. If you live out in the country with no one around for miles around, have at it but if not...really.

Let me be clear, I have nothing against competition, it a good thing, it focuses a dogs attention on something positive and facilitates obedience and thats great for the breed. As far as standards go and size, seems to me like some have alittle more terrier and some have a little more bull, to his own but the snobbery and hostility needs to stop. They are all dogs and all deserve good loving responsible homes. as long as there are breeders who stand by their own personal code of ethics, the breed will be fine, from the comments, its obvious that people are willing to stand by their beleifs no matter what and thats cool. I just don't like the bickering and the ugly. If people can't come together and work on legislation that will make the bad legislation unnecessary , all "bullies" are in jeopardy, as well as rotties, dobies, mastiffs, g.shepards, etc.

I beleive we need a country wide domestic animal breeder license in affect as well as mandatory id-micro chipping complete with non-compliance fines.

DA is PART of the breed...

If you can't deal with it...get out of the breed...

No one is being "ugly". We are being honest with you. If you don't like DA, then get a breed that is less prone to it. Don't change the breed, because you don't like it. It is part of the breed. Would you breed the hunt out of a beagle, or the retrieving out of a lab? You learn to live with DA, and you learn to manage it, or you get a different breed. It's that simple.

DA is not the reason we have BSL. Irresponsible Breeding, and people who are changing this breed to be guard dogs and manbiters are the reason for BSL. DA and HA are not the same. I will stand and fight to stop BSL whether they were trying to ban APBT, Ambullies, Amstaffs, or poodles, as I don't believe in banning a specific breed. However, I will not stand behind people who are ruining the breed, just so I can say, "We are helping each other." No, we aren't. They are the ones causing it. I will not stand behind them.

Who decides who is a good breeder and who is a bad breeder? The HSUS? The town? In theory, a breeder's license may sound like a good idea, but in the end, it will just become "whomever can pay the most" gets the license.

Well I googled waltonkennels or whatever and you had redboy/colby dogs that youclaim weigh 86lbs and they are registered CKC, can you post a ped? I didn't see it on your sight

  18. Exactly! Thats the problem. regulate the money. Thats why an exstensive license program needs to be established. news papers should not be able to list litters unless the breeder has a breeders license and a breeder should have to microchip their entire litters and when they go to their new homes, they should be registered to that person and that person should be required to fully vaccinate their animal, spay or nueter unless they apply for a breeders license by 6months. and so on and so fourth. of course there would still be some "under the table" breeding going on but this would greatly decrease bad breeding, communicable diseases, fighting, and enforce responsibility and accountability. Most of the dogs in shelters are either lost, stolen or abandoned, this way we could bill people who neglect their animals and make them pay for the food, shelter and time it takes to place them in new homes. The wallet is the answer. If you have to have car insurance to have a car than you should have pet insurance to have a pet, that way, Maybe home owners policies could lay off with the restrictions that stop great owners from having great dogs. something to think about...

  19. We don't post our peds anymore because we had an issue with them being stolen and registered, the registration availiable for pitbuls are too flimsy, we came upon a dog who we did NOT breed that claimed to be from our dogs. We have exstensive photos of all our litters and we never bred a dog like that. It was a awkward moment but we learned. We raise Rotties for 15 years and never had that problem b/c in order to register an AKC dog, you need their number.

The 86 lb dog is "Champ" He's Redboy/Colby He's not a Giant but he has a very dense solid stucture, He was always solid, even as a pup.

Mind you 86 lbs is a "fat" couch potato weight. Neither of his parents are that big.

His mom is "Brooklyn" she's Redboy

And dad is "Dutch" He's Colby
