Johnson's ambulls aren't lazy

So I finally found a video on YouTube showing what the Johnson's American bulldog was bred to do. Which is to fight off intruders and protect property and this one shows that the breed can do just that. In this video some guys chained up a bear to a zip line and gave it full mobility to run away if it needed to. In the related vid section you'll see them doing this with other breeds of dogs like huskies trying it in a pair, but none more effective then this johnsons ambull doing it alone! I don't support this even though it was pretty jaw dropping to actually find something like this.

Heres the link:

no that was some bullshit! that was not a bulldog that was able to work. that was a bulldog that was let loose on a circus bear or a bear that had its teeth and claws removed. that dog and no dog can take a swipe from a bear nor a bite as i seen that bear do. johnsons bulldogs are not so much lazy they just dont have stamina. that video was some bullshit.

Like I said I don't support this but if you watch this in hq(I'm using an iPhone so no reason for you not to see it) there is a full set of teeth on the bear not filed down or anything! The reason I started this thread is because of people always saying Johnson's are lazy, fat, low stamina! My girlfriend runs our dogs 8 miles a day and she says that our ambull keeps up better then our pit! I still love them both equally!

Is this some Russian shit?
That's fucked up. No claws on that bear. And a dog running around a bear for 10 mins means nothing. That Bulldog was just messing around, I bet it "knew" that bear and had picked on it before. Notice how the dog did the turn your back/butt defense? Try that on a real bear :)
What next? Bulldog proves stamina by chasing a 6 week old blind kitten up a tree?

In a way it is animal cruelty, but for me it's reality! My uncle is a hog catcher in new Orleans and this is how you train them to catch what you want, you have to present them the prey like a mother lion would do! He also told me that of all the dogs he's trained for the hunt nothing compares the stopping power of the Rottweiler, but next to that would be the Johnson's ambull! But in terms of well rounded ability he recommends the Scott's type bull and the dogo argentino! His strategy is to let the Scott's and dogos do the work and then let's his rotts and Johnson's do the heavy duty stuff because it's too risky to depend on the dogo and scotts ambull! One of his pitbulls got gored and died because it hit an artery last month and would never risk putting anything that size on the feild again!

My personal opinion from what I've read is the dogo and scott type can do it all but I'm no game expert and my uncle has been doing this for 28 years! He's even tried great Danes, pitbulls came corsos, and presa canarios but none sturdy enough like the breeds mentioned earlier.

all you need to do to get the dog on that smell is bring in a hunted one and let it play with the hide. in the case of hog hunters if they use this method they usually start them off as pups when they have no gripping power yet. ive hunted and have known people who hunted and baiting hogs is not how they went about doing it. all these hunters have to do with a bear is bring in a dead one and let the pups have at it (the hide of the bear). then go out and get them. usaully with bears they run up the trees when the dogs have at them and you shot it down. there is no need for baiting them like that.

There's different to teach them, and this is an effective way of letting them know what they're dealing with, though it is true that I've never heard of anyone doing this with a bear but youll see others on YouTube doing this with pigs! You can toss a dog into the hunt without it being trained right but that's up to you. That's why they set the traps so dogs won't have to get hurt!

Have you guys ever watched that one show "an animal save my life" were a husky save his owners life from a black bear? Are you guys gonna tell me that bear was declawed because it faught off a bear? His owner climbed up a tree and the husky stayed at the bottom preventing it from climbing the tree for a whole day. If a husky could do that with a black bear then why can't an American bulldog!

Why would a bear fight a dog for a whole day to get at a human up a tree?
And don't believe everything you see on TV...

You don't train hog dogs on a bear...

Who knows if they called it off they ended the vid. The point if this thread is to try to put an end to stereo types saying the Johnson's type is useless, has no stamina, they can't fight.

? This is a pit bull forum, and I dont see anyone bashing Am. bulldogs so why exactly are you here posting this?

Well I've seen a cocker spaniel defended its owner against 3 wolves. Doesn't mean it would make a good hog dog.

Not all dogs meet breed standards. Therefore any dog could stand against a bear. Not all Am bullies are fat, short, and lazy, but it is the majority.
