JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - An animal shelter in Jacksonville has succeeded in its mission to help save pitbull terrier breeds.

On Thursday night, the city council approved a modification to an ordinance that will allow the shelter to rehabilitate the breed rather than to euthanize them.

The animal shelter says the next step is to find a rescue group that's certified with an extensive background to work with the breed.
