    23 Arrested In Dogfighting Ring

Training Equipment, Fight Ring Housed At Indianapolis Home, Police Say

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police have arrested 23 people in a suspected dogfighting ring, the largest veteran Indianapolis police officers can remember.

The arrests were made late Friday night and early Saturday morning after a search warrant was obtained for a home in the 3000 block of West 60th Street, on Indianapolis' northwest side, 6News' Rick Hightower reported.

When officers went into the home, a fight was taking place, Lt. Jeff Duhamell said. Most of the arrests happened at about midnight.

Nine pit bulls were removed from inside and outside the home, along with drugs, money, guns and fighting equipment, police said.

All of those arrested, including men, women and one juvenile, were preliminarily charged with attending an animal fighting contest.

"They have that many arrests and have a location that is ... very sophisticated as far as what they were doing, the actual pit itself," said Indianapolis police Lt. Jeff Duhamell. "Our SWAT team hit it right about 10:30, and when they made entry, the actual fights were going on, which is, in itself, very rare."

The home was equipped as a training area for the animals, complete with treadmills and steroids, police said.

Investigators with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Animal Care and Control were also involved in the raid.

These people were caught in the act. Now at least, the Police and Lawyers have some real evidence to work with, instead of BS evidence.

Let's see what kind of excuses the dog fighter lovers come up with about this raid haha ! I hope they all rott in jail !

Loose lips sink ships! If you are caught in the act you are caught. Dogfighting is ilegal, nothing more nothing less.

An Davidfitness83, those folks will not rott in jail. however those dogs are likely to die, because of the same mentality of folks like you. So while you bleive you are serving this breed well and justice is being served.....it is only served for ppl like you, not this breed or those that are true fanciers, stewards of it.

Personaly I sleep well knowing what I stand for and beleive in.

True fanciers like you like to call them keep breeding illegal dogs that end up dead. Why can't they breed them to take down hogs? Heck they'll get to use their power and gameness for a cause instead of diying for no cause ? But a bunch of men trying to make cash and get off from watching two dogs shred each other apart.

The dogs aren't illegal. lol. The activity is illegal in the US.

A fighting dog is an illegal dog no ? If dog fighing is illegal and you keep breeding gamedogs what does that make the dog? How come they get put down after a raid? :)

    because they are deemed unadoptable.
nothing to do with being legal or not lol

They get put down, because some rescues think that after a dog has been used for fighting it is just a mad killer that will hurt everything. However, the dogs aren't illegal, the activity just is. Look at Vick's dog, they were kept alive and they were from a bust.

However, some of us believe that many times it is better for the dogs to be put down, then given to the rescues and given to people who can't handle them, but the dogs themselves are not Illegal to have.

Every real APBT is from gamelines, so, that would mean that every APBT would have to be illegal, if that were the case.

There are not many things that bother me, i've seen a womens hand dangling by a strip of skin only.. but seeing that picture of the pit stained with blood - that disturbs me.

I give law enforcement credit. Walking into a situation like that. They even had a swat team. These people who fight dogs are criminals of the worst kind. Not a situation I would want to walk in to. I hope these guys rot in jail.

Yes they are far worse than murderers, rapists, terrorists, and child molesters, and the sick part is that in this day in time they will probably do alot more time than many rapists in that same area will.

Your statement just proves that Americas priorities are fucked up, when you think someone who allows a dog to do what he was bred to do is worse than someone who preys on our innocent children.

x2 Thank you. What these people do does not even compare to what people do to each other. People before animals, that's how it should be, unfortunately our priorities are little skewed and murderers are walking the streets while 'dog fighters' are spending 30 years in jail. Riddle me that.

LOL. They will not rott in jail. But their dogs will suffer at the hands of others temperarely and their familys will be affected.... I don't wish that kinda shit on ppl or this breed. with out guys like this you don't have the APBT. That is a fact!

personally i believe if a person is convicted of cold blood ed murder without a dought. as the same in rape -child molesting etc.they should find a big island in which there is no possible way to escape drop all of these tipe of affenders ALIVE on this islandand tell them when you hit ground you are free to stay alive as long as you don't get rapped beat what ever you want to live as a animal survive as such and if you are good at suviving then you could live 1day or maybe longer but in reality i don't care if you live to the ground. make these criminals fight for their lives instead of getting a good night sleep on our dime. maybe with punishment like this those kind of so called people will think before they act. just my opinion. as far as the dog fighter's go i have mixed feelings so for now i will not comment on the fighting part but on the so called game dog parand . no-one can say their dog's are game bred without testing the dog's backing you're dog you may have a dog that back in it's history had game dog's but unless you have tested you're dog's yourself you just have a bull dog and why can't that be good enough.so to those of you who say you're dog's are game bred know what you admitting to to the world .............

LOL. You don't have to fight dogs but one can buy or obtain proven dogs and dogs directly down from proven dogs.
