Mrpedigree, your username says it all. You care about papers and looks, not performance and shit that really matters.

The op really doesn't want this thread to turn into a debate, i think we should respect that and to the person who just started this debate perhaps you should make your own thread and you guy can take your debate there!

how does the shape of the head make the dog healthier ?

to some this look is appealing, to others its unappealing/low quality whatever. it doesnt really matter because its just opinions and there is no reason to hate on each others opinions or fight over it cause it dont mean anything...

On that much I agree. I don't come on threads with roman head dogs and say "HEY YOUR DOG LOOKS LIKE SHIT!!!!" Why do people come on the old school head threads and do the same?

Sport ? what type of sport ?
My dogs are fit and healthy ,I can thow a ball for them in a park back and forth for as long as my arm can take it .,i am in to my boxing/running and my one bitch comes running with me every 2-3 days and she can easy out run me over 3 miles ...which is surely good enough for what most would want from her or any dog !
It just gets a little tiring when the uninformed go on about an head with a decent profile in that in some ways impairs the dog, which i can tell you is utter nonsense .
My family have owned/bred/kept bull terriers here in the uk since the 1970s ,so i have seem my fair share of decent or poorer flat profiles ,I have heard all the arguments but take it from me ,grip strength has little to do with if a dog does or does not have a slight curve on the nose,to say otherwise is stupid ,anyone that says different usually dont know what they talking about or just has an Agenda ;)

Wow your dog can run for 2 miles ? Lol please tell me what mutt that can't do that lolololol ?

I think when it comes to agendas, we can discuss how they took a perfectly built dog in the past and show breeders with their agenda disfigured a capable dog.

If you know so much about BTs you would know that current dogs look nothing like the past dogs. So what is your arguement ? Your family could have bred bts for 100s of years but if they joined the bandwagon of show breeders it doesnt mean anything.

Can someone provide a legitimate reason why the new skull shape has advantage over the old, besides to win a ribbon ?

I will be one of the only people to admit I just plain don't like the look of the modern show bull terrier. I cannot comment on their working ability since I have never interacted with one. I am more concerned with the body of the bull terrier. The tendancy to be overweight and its straight hind legs can't be good for its joints. Does anyone think the change in skull shape has any correlation with all the OCD, rage and epilepsy seen in the breed?

Sorry its obvious now Your retarded ent ya ? i clearly said over three miles ,can you read ? or count ? there many breeds of dogs that couldn't do those runs because of how their built .

There are many dog breeds that have changed for one reason or another ,the EBT is one of them, how many actual breeds can we say still looks the same as when it was created ?
You can hate on the bull terrier all you like in its currant form ,but maybe you should take a closer look at your own breed of choice and the state thats in +type of people that are breeding/keeping them etc
As an owner of APBT should you really be casting the first stone ? :D

So after a full paragraph of nonsense you still have nothing constructive to say. There are many breeds that have been kept in their original form. Just because sheep follow a direction doesnt mean they are right.

I don't own an apbt, so I am not sure what you are trying to prove.

My "old school" bull terrier can't run half a mile. I gave her heat exhaustion by slowly walking her for twenty minutes. Shape of the head and leanness of the dog does not predict better endurance. This is my "old-style" bull terrier, she's beautiful just the way she is, lazy and slightly on the stupid side :)
