My wife is in love with ferrets. She loves them almost more then she loves the dogs. She had 4 until recently when one died of anemia. She thinks it is because it is a a pet store ferret and she does not want another Marshall ferret mill ferret. So if anyone could be kind enough to let me know about a reputable ferret breeder it would be much appreciated. We live in Michigan so the closer the better. Thanks much.

PS I am 3 sheets to the wind right now. Sorry if the post could have made more sense.

Ferk, I have owned 2 ferretts... both of them Marshall Farms ferretts. I dont know any breeders, but if I were to get another, I wouldnt want one from there either. Both of mine died from horrible illnesses.

I don't know of any good ferret breeders in MI and I haven't found one that ships yet, I've been looking myself. How close are you to Canada? I don't know the rules of bringing one across but might be something to look into.

I have 10 ferrets. I know, sounds pretty crazy. My wife is trying to save the world one ferret at a time.

Almost all of ours came from Craigslist. I dont understand how people can get an animal and then just get rid of them. I believe all of them are Marshall ferrets. They all have 2 little blue tatoo dots on the back of their ears. I am almost sure this is done by Marshalls. One dot means it is fixed, the other might mean that they are descented or something. Only one has had health issues. She had adrenal disease and needed surgery. This is pretty common in ferrets and she is fine now. I have never heard of a ferret breeder. There are already so many out there, that I dont think there is a market out there for them. Check out Craigslist tho. There always a ton on there, plus it'll be one less one my wife brings home.

try everything fert message boards, someone there may know (ima jr mod there)

I dont blame her for wanting a breeder ferret, the ferret mills are awful. I have 3 from marshalls and 2 previously. The common illnesses we see here in north america are rare in other countries that do not have mills and do not speuter/descent at a young age. A breeder ferret will be much healthier then a marshalls

    try this out
