How to get your dog outside when it’s cold and wet!

It’s cold and wet in Texas today. I have the hardest time getting Peetie to go outside especially when it’s raining. But I sure don’t want her peeing/pooping in my house!! Usually she and Max just go out the glass sliding door that leads to my big fenced in backyard. Any suggestions? I’m about to put ion my raincoat and get her leash that’s probably my best bet. I think I’ve answered my own question!

yep.. that you did . lol That's the only thing that works for my two.. They look at me like I am crazy.. thinking ' if you aren't going, why should we?' So, yes.. as much as I hate rainy, cold weather, I too find myself going out there with them when the weather is bad.

Didn't you get the memo Esty? BBs are made of sugar and will melt in the rain! :p

Yeah, me standing in the rain and Grace sitting at the back door looking at me like I'm an idiot is a regular occurrence here. Or I carry her to the back corner of the yard and she runs back to the house with her tail between her legs and looks at me like I tried to kill her. On the plus side, gotta love the quick dry fur.

Mine hate rain, but will go out if they HAVE to. There have been many mornings, when I open the door to icky weather, Rosie looks out and says "NOPE!" We do have a doggie door, so if they really have to go, they will. (well, except Rikki, she has no problem going in the house.) But everyone else will go out when needed.
If they wouldn't, then it'd be leash time.

I bought a raincoat for my golden border collie that I had a few years back. It really helped her. I still had to go out with her though. Lol

I have one of these: Dog Coat

My dog is about 45 lbs lean and the 5XL fits her well. I like that the zipper is on the top, it's so easy to put on and take off. It's currently below 30 at night here, though she doesn't put up a fight about going outside (then again I always go with her as we live in an apartment) she will be shaking when we get inside without the jacket. There's probably better jackets out there, but this was the most reasonably priced waterproof one with good reviews. I've heard great things about the hurtta jackets.

Kick em in the butt! Just kidding.. Trin is the one who despises rain, the cold doesn't bother any of my dogs, in fact it makes them even crazier and more feisty. We just have make Trin go out, she will sometimes squat and pee on the porch or poop on it sometimes to lol.

It is the rain that has bothered all of my dogs too.

45lbs, lean and wears a 5XL? There is no hope for those fitting my dogs then. Well, maybe Rikki. But the others are all close to 70lbs.
I like the Foggy Mountain Dog coats, just wished they covered more belly/chest. My big dogs have a couple RuffWear water proof coats that are really nice, just not very warm. I'm currently searching for a lighter weight, water proof coat for Rikki. Her Foggy Mountain is overkill if it isn't pretty cold, but that's her only (semi) water proof coat.
