Well, BP (Baby possum) is getting HUGE! A few more weeks and its outside for this bugger....

He no longer fits in his pouch or my *ahem* cleavage and now rides around in a neat carrying case instead.

BP when I first got him

    A few weeks later

    Last week...

    And today!

    His Carrier

And just because they are cute, two Jeuv's that came for a nite to get dewormed and then were released the next day.

EEEEEeeeee he is so freaking cute! My fave pic is still the one with his head sticking out of the little pouch! But really holy crap he has grown SO much he looks like a big grown up possum now wow! Where did the little baby go lol I swear it feels like they are taking forever to grow as tiny babies then they hit a growth spirt and bye bye baby hello big possum! I hope I get to see him again before he gets released though I probably don't have too much time now huh!

The older two are very cute as well, they say let me outta this box nao!

    He's adorable!

I'm glad I saw this, b/c I need some baby possum advice. My neighbors found a baby one in their backyard and brought it to me tonight. I've got experience with racoons, but not possums. They are going to keep it, but I told them I'd get with you on some advice. Soooo.........let's hear it! :D

Any idea of age? If not, look at BP's photos and tell me what seems similar? Older, younger? Has the white tipped fur and white face already or just grey body and white face? Eyes open or closed? The usuals... oh and pics would really help!

For little guys like the size when I first got BP I used a rewarmable beanbag that I kept in a camera case pouch. Warm it up and you are good to go. When we were away from a microwave, into the cleavage he went!

They need puppy milk, not kitten like most people assume. When they get around 10 weeks I add baby green beans or applesause to the forumula to thicken it and then start teaching them to eat from a spoon and lap it up. Since possums are stomach feeders, the consept of suckiling a bottle is super hard so the sooner you can get them to lapping things up the better.

Of course the usual stimulating the bathroom stuff like any baby animal.

If its ears are crusty it is a sign of bad health.... nice easy way to gage a possum.

Pictures? Id love to see them!

He will nip at you if he wants down, ect. The more time I spend with these guys the more I realize that they shouldnt be pets. Plus, their poo smells something aweful!!!!
