five years ago we put our sweet Ginger down. I feel like she died prematurely due to Vet error and our own negligence.

Oh Nat, I am so sorry. I understand the second guessing all to well. (easier said than done) Don't beat yourself up. You know better now and you will do better.
What happened, if you don't mind me asking?
    RIP Ginger, pretty girl.

I took her to the ER the Sunday before we put her down be ause she couldn't hold any food down and I was worried that she was dehydrated too. They tested her and she was hungry. She wanted to eat. They said she should spend the night and it would be $1,800. They said that our family Vet should have never prescribed the two medications together and that is why her stomach was so upset. They said she was dehydrated too. She had been touch and go about six months earlier and was actually doing much better. I do believe she had cancer in her bladder lining or something pretty bad. They did an ultra sound six months earlier to see if there was a tumor in her bladder. Anyways, it is a long story. we had them treat her the best they could but we did not let her stay overnight. I tried to get her in to my family Vet on Monday and they didn't seem to get the seriousness of it either. It was all just messed up...

Ugh. It sounds like a cluster. Are you with the same vet or have you since switched?

It all happened when we found out we were moving out of state. We were scrambling to get the house cleaned and list it. I had just gotten a new part time job and it was very hard on Ginger. I did not expect that at all. I should have quit the 2nd day.

    Thank you.

She was a sweetheart with people but she did not like dogs. We think she might have been part Chow too. She was relinquished by her previous owner. I wanted a bully breed looking dog with short hair. We spent like five years looking at dogs after we put our boxer down. Rudy took one look at her and said, "I love that dog." All I saw was a messy ball of fur. I didn't even like her at first. Her coat actually got much healthier with monthly grooming, etc. I think she was not groomed during her first three years until they returned her to the Humane Society.
