Interesting choice for the kennel name as well; after all, gargoyles are typically frightening creatures ...

I HATE the theme used on the site, too much 'darkness'; not exactly the type of place I'd seek out to find my next canine family member

Aaaah ... you said it first! :D Didn't notice, sorry. Good call.

Yeah the dogs are really kind of cute in a mutant sort of way. The breeders seem the same (without the "cute" part  )

I believe that I would be more concerned had they chosen to name their kennel "Lovey-Dovey Squishy-Wishy Unicorn-Magick-Bulldogs".

Oooh, they are cool! What would you call them (besides "Bulldogs"?)

Are they American Bulldogs? They look almost as tanky as English Bulldogs!

I'd be all over that. I'd probably have to buy one!

I believe those are American Bulldogs (but someone correct me if I'm wrong). There are 2 main types of AB's, the Johnson dogs and the Scott dogs, but many hybrids exist along with other strains of ABs.

However, I wouldn't touch any of those dogs mentioned above as I see nothing to show to me that those dogs are working dogs that have proved themselves to be great standards of the breed. The AB is first and foremost a working dog, however they are fast becoming the next bred-for-looks (i.e. wide chests, big heads, short, heavyweights, etc.) breed of dog and it's destroying them.

I've got several friends with true working AB's (schutzhund, Ringsport, protection work) and the dogs are absolutely amazing in every aspect.

Besides, gargoyles are good! They are protectors, put in place to keep the bad guys away. We have one on our entertainment center facing the door.

Sorry about the confusion Tat ... Miakoda was answering my question about the barbers, not the gargoyles ;)

i still like the gargoyle ones better then the other ones, they are all cute..

i think i will add them to my list of what to narrow down to for my next dog....:D

They are cute. I'd be afraid abpout health issues because of some of their structures and all the loose skin so that would be something to look into if you are seriously considering one. I also see alot of picts if them working but not any titles. Titles aren't everything but are a nice plus to have to prove a dog

I believe gargoyle is just the name of the kennel and they areRenascence Bulldogs.

There is a big discussion on this breed on Bulldogbreeds forum you should take a peek at

To me its just another moron mixing up dogs trying to make something out of a hole bunch of nothing but mutts, People just have to except the fact that you will never make another dog that will be better then the APBT ;)

    tat2stuff Good Dog

designer mutts are the craze now unfortunately, I think these dogs were breed as an alternative to the english or american bulldog not the APBT. As long as they don't call them APBT's or mini APBT's it's ok with me, they can mix and match whatever they want.

Interesting read and website. Not the type of dog I'd like to own though. Dave Leavitt of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania bred a similiar dog, The Olde Bulldogge he called it - his recreation of what he perceived the bulldog should look like. I see that there is a distinct distancing from Dave Leavitts dogs on this site.
I'll say this much though, they are a darn sight better than the AKC/KUSA bulldogs bred the past century.

I would not touch those dogs with a 10 foot pole. Check these dogs out go to google and look up shortybulls and tell me what you guys think it a mixture of pitbull, pug, french bulldog, and boston terrier they have one of this dogs doing a springpole its preety funny

Yeah they add an "e" at the end. I't's all about the "bulldogges" or "check out my dogge"

I love mutts; they are my favorite! But I would not pay for one or support people wo breed them.
