From the pictures she seems to be blue fawn with a blue nose but I'm by no means an expert.

Me either! Those were my thoughts too. I'm training to nail down if she's a AMPT or if she's the other kind the bully type. I'll have to wait until she get's older :)

I'm not even sure if she's a mix either since the mixes can look like pure bred pits :)

I have noticed too that she's starting to turn more blue. It's getting darker in color. The only blue areas she has is her nose, her back, it does not spread down her legs though, and her tail. The blue blends in with her fawn coat as it gets lighter going down towards her legs. I'm not sure if she'll get darker she's 10 weeks now?

Or, it's just my imagination but I could swear up and down her coat looks darker now that she's getting older. we gave her a bath too :)

    :) LOL

I forgot to mention her ears are blue too but not the entire ear. It's the middle to the tips :)

Awe she is CUTE! Eyes change colors as pups mature. By 6 months or sooner they are usually set in color. As for her coat color, she is blue fawn or in ADBA terms a fawn bluie like someone already said. Sometimes the darker color on top like that is referred to as smut. She is very cute

Smut? LOL interesting word for the darker color on top! I'll have to research this breed more and learn some terms here! Thanks for the answers! I figured so but wasn't sure since I read on here that the blue is is not commonly seen in the American Staffordshire terrier but common in the bully breeds. : head spins : oh well LOL.

Her eyes almost look grey green but I'm still not sure what color they really are though...??? LOL

what is adba-sounds stupid but my first thought was american dog breed association.

sorry if I'm wrong. I'll read some more I think!

I guess my pup is more of a blue and tan. I have never seen another pit even close to the coloring of my pup. I own the mother and she is a brindle and the father was a blue brindle. I'll have to post a pic or two of him on here.

OH, and he has blue eyes. ;)

Yeah he turned out well. The only one in the litter like that out of 9. I can't wait to see how he looks when he is an adult.

I posted new pictures of mine. The color on her back that is referred to as "smut". She's fawn with blue on her back and tail, and face.

found her as a stray dumped on the side of the road in Feb. I'm waiting to see how she turns out as well! More pictures to come :) and please post yours too, that goes for everyone who has a pup, I love watching dogs grow up :)

MJ is just your basic buskin with white markings and a black mask. I think she's beautiful just how she is, even if she isn't a rare or really super interesting color. But I must say, that pup is ADORABLE!! lol

    She is
blue fawn means she is fawn with blue tones on her.

UKC and ADBA are two APBT registries.
:) ADBA uses a different name for her color fawn bluie, but it means the same thing

Just fawn would be a reddish tan color which she is not.

From what I've seen most will not list smut but it is another way to describe how she has a lot of pigment in certain areas.
LOL almost like saying she is a dirty blue fawn like she rolled in something... not being rude, that is just the easiest way to describe it to help you understand better. I think she is very pretty.

Follow this link to see another dog that is smut.

If you follow the color links I posted in the first thread it gives really detailed info and pictures to help you understand better.

That dogs eyes actually do not look blue to me, they look greyish greeen which would be acceptable.

Actually not really, but in performance sports they do not look at conformation.
    ADBA standard states:
Major faults: Merle color pattern or albinism. (White dog, blue or pink eyes, lacks pigment )
    American Pit Bull Terrier Network

    UKC standard states:
All colors are equally acceptable except blue, which is a serious fault.

One post said that over 80% white is discouraged. Why is this? Maggie has 2 black eyes and random black freckles. Her nose is pink and black. Would she just be considered white?

i have a question while we are talking about color. Both of my puppies parents are red nose. The dad is fully red and the mom is red/white. And the puppy (Abbie) we picked was the only one with a dark nose? Any one know how or why she has a black nose if both parents are red?

This is my first pit so i'm new to them. But Ive had a few other breeds.
here is a pic of abbie and her mom.

it's all about bloodline...different generations, if one of the dogs grandparents have a black nose (which is very likely) then it's able to come through their off spring..but your dog can have red nose pups also.

ok I know I have asked this time and time again, but really what color is Goren, he looks like he might have some blue in him but his back always reminds me of a Rhodesian Ridgeback without the fur facing towards the head...his side goes from the dark brown on his back down to tiger stripes, and the main part of his side is a mix of brown and grey that looks kinda like dry dirt...his face is that golden brown or red...so what would you call his overall coloration?
sorry for so many photos...had to find ones that showed each part how it really was or at least as close to it as possible...

this shows the lines coming down from his back pretty well
and the sides in this shot are the right color
this shows the blueish at his neck, its mainly on his neck but can see it on the grey/brown/dirt colored sides sometimes
    his red face
and about the best I could find of his back
