Flying overseas with my pib

    Hello everyone,
I am wondering has anyone traveled by plane with their pibble and had to build their own crate?
Husband and I are relocating for a longer time from Europe to Mexico. We are flying with Lufthansa and they require a specific IATA approved kennel for my dog Moira. I found a manual on IATA's site on how to build this kennel but I can't find info anywhere will Lufthansa allow a built kennel instead of a factory made kennel, even though we follow the manual instructions. I'm basically looking to see if there are people who built their own reinforced kennels for airline travel and what were their experiences. I wouldn't want my doggo to be turned away at the gate. Thanks everyone!

LH (Lufthansa) used to require ''fighting dog'' kennels for transport = custom built to the tune of more than USD 1,000.00. They are reinforced wooden crates that would safely restrain a Gorilla …

As suggested in the PM, I would suggest Swissair (interestingly, a LH sub) - much nicer. However, assumption here is that they service your origin/destination ...

I would recommend finding one of the pet transport companies that can help you. There are so many complications in shipping dogs internationally and Pit Bulls especially, I would pay them to get it all set up for you. Just the vet work/papers/timing is daunting. And I would not trust the airline to get it all straight for you. And start early.

    Would the Impact crates qualify?
