Well , just gave chico and mia their first ever bones .... went to the Feed supply store where I buy their TOTW from, they have Pet Professional's Choice Prime Cuts Meaty Bones for Large/Medium dogs.... it looks like a big beef bone, maybe a leg bone? It doesn't say and I couldn't find it on the internet, I shouldve asked the guy at the counter, I put it in the freezer for about 8 hours, its pretty meaty and has a lot of marrow it looks like, from what i've read on the internet, it looks okay for them, the meat on the bones almost smells like it was smoked.... Well I gave them the bones and at first they were so excited they almost didn't know what to do with them (notice i say almost) their heads were on the bones and their butts in the air with tails wagging....now they've figured out how to isolate them and naw and chew...i had chico in the living room at first and mia in the kitchen to avoid any problems or curiosity, but then mia started coming into the living room to see chico and look at his bone, so i took the bones from them and put them in their crates with the bones.... Good idea or what guys? Mia hasn't had a food aggressive episode with chico since i stopped letting her be food dominant with him, and they're totally fine with me taking their bones or food, they just drop their butts right to the ground and look at me... before they get anything from me i always make them sit, so they've learned the quickest way to get what they want is to SIT..."what they want" meaning food lol.... im sitting her really enjoying them so happily go at these bones, but wondering how much i should moderate these bones, like after meal time? Need some of your opinions....and BTW Since I'm here, thanks so much for everyones opinions when I ask questions, I really appreciate the help, really wish i knew what i know now about buying a pure bred dog and wish i couldve had this relationship with the different folks that i got chico from and the folks i got mia from.... THANKS PEOPLE OF PBC forums!

Even the best of dogs can get testy over a high value item like bones! All our dogs eat their bones (or any other coveted treats) either in their crate, or separated by gates from the others. That way, I don't have to worry about any potential squabbles.

I agree Mardi...I always kennel my dogs with there bones, gives you peace of mind knowing you dont have to be right there with them...and my dogs dont chew/eat as fast as they can because they are not worried.

I would crate them with the bones every time. For one it will make a mess and two as someone else said its a high valued treat and these are bully breeds. Anything can happen better to be safe than sorry.

Glad they enjoyed them! Know whats better and cheap for them? Go down to the butcher and buy a raw beef soup bone. I got one for 77 cents for the dogs and they loved it. Raw bones are much better for health and they are less likely to choke like they can on those store bought bones, plus these are fresh and natural. Raw is great for dogs!

yeah putting the bones in their crates worked best... they'd stop for a second to look at the other one go lol but then continue to gnaw on their own bone..... they loved the bones.... I'm gonna have to grab one of those raw bones like you suggested rogue, especially if they're only 77 cents! lol.... I have yet to try the tripe, but thats next on the menu...its so nice to see them so excited and love something so much.... they just love food period lol.... they love going into petco and petsmart because no one around here has bullies it seems like and so everyone is always all over them and the employees always spoil them and give them treats the size of baseball gloves...

I also give raw soup bones. They are like 3.50 for like 4 huge pieces at the local grocery store and the dogs love to eat the marrow out of it. I wouldnt feed it on a carpet or leave it outside though. attracts many flies... yuck.

Brando exists solely on raw bones and chicken! Just get the cheapest wings (£1.50 a kilo) and frozen chicken at about the same price so he can have the thighs and breast bits too.
Works out much cheaper than commercial food and he LOVES crunching up those bones.
He has big marrow bones every now and then, but since I'm a vegetarian, I'm hardly ever at the butchers!

im just happy to hear your not making your dog be a vegetarian as I have heard of people doing that!

Oh I know absolutely ridiculous and totally not healthy speaking that dogs are carnivores and need a meat based diet

lmao! pieces of chinese food omg!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! my bullies just said they want to live with janice, they cant live in a world where other bullies get chinese food and all they get are fruits and vegetables lol.... sips of soda lol haha, well i dont give chico and mia sips of anything but they sneak or take rather, sips of my beer...seriously they love beer....whenever i open a beer whether it be Negra Modelo, Corona, Bud light, Bud light, Bud light Chelada, Guinness lol...Nothing made me happier to find out that Chico will sit on the couch with me and watch football (Dallas Cowboys,Texas Longhorns) and drink beer! Okay okay okay, so i'm guilty for letting him smell the mouth of the beer...and maybe lick it :(

IT WAS NOT SODA IT WAS TEA!!! JESUS I WOULD NEVER GIVE MY DOG SODA! I wanted to give Bowzer some but Danielle screamed at me... oh well:p. Nonetheless Roscoe did enjoy those pieces of BBQ pork. Shame on me :no2: One time I had a party at my house for my birthday and roscoe got ahold of some alcohol and he just sat and watched everyone dance with his eyes all squinty like he was about to pass out. I was like oh my gosh you should be in your kennel and off to bed he went. I had to pick him up because he wouldn't budge .

I rarely if ever give my dogs human food. I gave bowzer a piece of a bread stick the size of a quarter and he had ass piss the whole next day. :no2: But my friend poured some beer for him the other day in the grass it was a small amount but he loved it.
