I've been reading about the grain free issues lately , I try not get to scared , I'm looking for adviceon feed change .

Some notes on my dogs .
I have 3 game style terriers very healthy very active , oldest is 6 he is big papa , he has become a bit slow, but he wasn't all that fast to begin with, he is the biggest at 55 ish lbs dense bones, I would say slightly less thin or lean body type.
His son lil papa 3 years old , super thin and super lean , stays very lean takes a lot to add fat to his bones , he is all bone and muscle , very active , slightly faster than his dad , very good wind , great steady endurance , excellent bite , super sweety boy .
And lol papas daughter ,two years old around 35 lbs , super trim but holds an natural layer of fat , lightning bolt , extremely driven , most active, extra sweety girl , very game but not aggressive, great hard working dog .

I feed them all peak by Rachel rays , it is the best food I can afford , it has a good review on the dog food guide site , I feel confident in it , it doesn't have much fat in it it's plant based protein mostly , peas.
So I'm worried it might not be that great for dogs , even though my dogs have great health and ability .

I've been wondering about the grain free issues lately it's kind of scary, I don't feed my dogs grain free for any reason it's just the cheapest food with the most protein, and least fat , which can be a good thing and a bad thing depending on how you look at it . I am an amataure athlete and I train my dogs with road work , bite work , and ability. I have had good results with a raw mix , satin balls , and they will inhale raw chicken leg bones , so would any one have have any practical changes to avoid the grain free issues .
Could I simply add some corn bread mix or oatmeal to the dry food . Should I just get cheap meat from the butcher grind it , it mix , add maybe frozen veggies from wal mart .
I usually spend 150 or less per month on 69 lbs , 3 x 23 , bags of the peak food from chewy .I have been feeding that maybe almost two years , before that I was mixing pro plan sport and the natural puppy chow .
I'm not trying to go to over board but if hate to loose my best buddies to a heart issue , I've had my dogs line since 2006 and I have had very few major health issues , never any allergies, or organ issues , very blessed to have these guys , but I was not feeding them grain free, during the harder times they would get rice and puppy chow , even dog chow, they did just fine , poop was a bit gross , but any advice would appreciated , thanks for reading .!

Victor or Muenster is affordable too. I'm feeding Muenster Ancient Grains (Ocean Fish and Turkey). I give them a little canned (like a tablespoon per meal of Royal Canin Adult). One of mine gets a slice of turkey meatloaf once a day.

You can always add an egg, a sardine in unsalted springwater, or cooked liver to their kibble too.

  3. Hi,
I heard there were some lawsuits against the Rachel Ray dog food, but that may have been a while ago and now the formula is improved. I think it's a great idea to get some meat and add it to your dog's diet because a varied diet is best. You can also research some supplements just to ensure your dogs get the protein and nutrients they need. There's one called Buddy Custard that has all natural ingredients and is based on the Budwig protocol from the 50's. I've read testimonials on their website saying how people have seen positive changes in their dogs. Plus as the person above me said, eggs can be really healthy and have lots of protein. Also, dogs like to eat raw meat so you could just buy some raw meat and feed it to them without having to cook it or do anything else to it. So really I think what you're doing is fine, just add a few protein full foods to what you feed them so that you're sure your dogs stay healthy and energetic.

Hi Vicki, Are you still feeding the chicken and pork kibble? I've had both of mine on Ocean Fish & Turkey Ancient Grains. Which one do you like the best?

She said she is feeding All Peak by Rachael Ray .I think what read so I'm guessing around 40 bucks a sack which is why I said Victor purple.Muenster is in a higher price range .I dont doubt that its better feed though. Also I havent priced Rachael Ray feed so I may be way off the mark.
