Hello guys, I believe I may have a *bully that may or may not be an actual bully. I know I made a mistake when I bought from a backyard breeder. My boy is an inside companion and is very loved regardless of his ped... but wanting to know how big he will get is killing me. The breeder told us both parents were 15"-16" and 50-60lbs. Well my pup is 8 months old 22" and 71lbs... haha im waiting on his papers to come in from abkc so I can see his ped. But here are the pics I have of his "parents"... and one of him. He is the blue brindle one. received_m_mid_1391267686440_079be0921e25311d91_1.jpg

Hung papers are not unheard of in the American Bully world, so... there's that. If both parents were 60 lbs or under and your dog is 71 lbs at 8 months, then I'd say there's that possibility.

I was only told the dad was 60lbs by the breeder... I never met him. I did meet the mom when I picked up my pup. She was a short stocky pretty dog... My boy is 22" and 71lbs... :( They supposedly came from Jones (Dam) and Hinshaw (Sire).

If the pedigree is fake (hung), you really won't know anything about your dog in regards to breed and bloodline.

If you don't have a pedigree, and not just any pedigree, but a pedigree that traces back several generations, you will never know what your pup's potential size. You won't know the average size of all the dogs in the line. You have nothing to base your dog's size on besides the parents, if you even have that.

A dog's physical appearance, as well as temperament, will be a result of dogs in his pedigree reaching further back than just the parents.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a single litter can have multiple sires. There is a chance that the breeder lied to you or wasn't forthcoming that another male got to his bitch while she was in heat.

There's so many variables that really just come down to whether or not you trust your breeder and if your breeder is ethical enough to tell you the truth about how the breeding occurred.

I do not trust the breeder and have cut ties with them. I still love my dog... hes just a bit bigger than I expected. Haha Lesson learned... Thanks for the replies guys!
