Dogo Argentino?

Discussion in 'Other Breeds' started by TiffaneeCavan1, Sep 5, 2012.

  1. (NOT MY PICTURES,FOUND THESE ON GOOGLE!)
I was just looking at random dog breeds, and I saw this, a Dogo Argentino
Does anyone know about the breed? I've been looking into them a little. No, I'm
not looking to get one, just thought it'd be interesting to learn some things about the breed :D
Are they good family dogs? Or more of a one person dog?
They are very gorgeous! I haven't ever seen one around though?

Very Aggressive dogs. No. They are not good for families with children. ^^ Just google the breed and you will find all sorts of information. I agree, they are beautiful dogs. Very strong. :P I think there are some members here with experience with them. I personally have none so I am just playing by what I have heard and read and seen on you tube.

IMO I would personally never own one (I know you said you where not looking to have one)

Like most dogs that are continuously bred for a certain color (in this case, white) they tend to have certain health problems too. So i've heard. I'm no expert either

I can think of at least one member here that would hold issue with the broad brush you just painted that breed with.

Dogos should be regarded with the same regard as other molossers.

Wow so clearly you know nothing about the breed and should stop going around spreading mis information...I'm not sure why you insist on running your mouth about breeds you know dick squat about.

They are a mastiff type breed bred for guarding and more specifically hog hunting.
They make GREAT family dogs actually because of them being a guardian breed, they will protect it's family with it's life. A well bred Dogo will be able to distinguish the difference between a threat and someone being allowed in the house. While they are not for a novice owner they are nothing like what love pup explained them to be.

    She quoted lovepup ya dork!

  9. Just asking questions :D, can't always trust google, I wanted to see if anyone owned one or has had experience one so I could learn some more, they seem like very interesting, intellagent dogs!:D

There is a member on here who I'm sure will pipe in when they see this.
She currently had a Dogo and has had many rescue Dogos.

  11. Are they a popular breed? Like I said I haven't seen any of them around the Oregon area :\ I'd love to meet one and see what they're truely like, I love their body build and the way they look. They're gorgeous.

you must have clearly missed where I said I have no experience with the breed and was only stating from what I have read. :P

Um.. what are you talking about? I know quite a few people with Dogos that have children. They aren't for the inexperienced owner, but IMO, neither are Pit Bull type dogs.

I'm not sure about in the states but where I live no, most working breeds don't live in the city.
I would imagine in states where hog hunting is big there would be a lot of Dogo's because they are so good at it.

Then why are you telling someone about the breed? Like I said your spreading mis information when you dont know what your talking about.

  17. Hog hunting sounds like it'd a fun, hard, sport :)!

I gave my opinion on them from what I've read. I even made the statement that I had no real experience. I believe I am entitled to type anything I want on here. If you have an issue with it then just ignore it. Stop acting out like you know everything yourself.

Tiffenee I'm sorry I couldn't offer any real advice. Apparently I did a big nono. LOL

  19. Oh, it's okay, I know nothing about the breed, so I was just asking, thank you for your advice though. (:
