Doesnt he look like a mix?

Recently, I got a 6 month old (now 8 months) supposedly a purebred pit bull, gamebredxshow type cross but, looking further into his pics and pics of American Bulldogs, I've been thinking that he looks more like a gamebred pit bull and American bulldog. I've seen the dam and the dam's parents and she's definite gamebred but, the guys didn't have pics of the sire. I saw a pic of the dam locked with an American Bulldog but, he said that it wasn't my dog's sire because that one didn't take. The white one with brown patch on the left eye is my dog, the Brown one is the dam. Either way I love him :) We are located in Philippines btw.400685_4910583413623_1133765625_n.jpg428562_4848935432462_2018416125_n.jpg429809_4980631684786_1851643165_n.jpg971226_4922881161059_1876639116_n.jpg16072_488478391206093_330315778_n.jpg

Welcome!

He doesn't look much like an American Bulldog to me, nor does he look like an APBT. He's probably a mix of those and maybe a couple other breeds and mixes. Just love him and care for him, and don't worry too much about what specific breed he is because in the end, it doesn't matter.

FWIW, you cannot tell a "gamebred APBT" just by looking at it. Gamebred is pretty specific to where you'd be able to trace back pedigree to matched dogs.. Which is illegal here in the US, I don't know about the Philippines.

Hi, I was curious as to why its illegal trace game bred pitbulls by lineage? And what exactly do ppeople mean when they say "game bred"??

Yes, what GOB said. It's not illegal to trace lineage. It is illegal to match dogs.

I don't know what people mean when they say "gamebred" but I already state what the term actually means regardless of what people THINK it means.

In the face - I don't see a bully at all when he smiles.
But he is still very cute and at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.

He looks like a bulldog to me. I would not be surprised if he was mixed or just a back yard bred american bulldog.

There is really no way we can tell you what breed or breeds your dog is with 100% certainty with only a visual observation, but he does look like a healthy dog. What I've found from my experience with dogs when you breed two breeds together the pups in alot of cases favor both parents. I have a APBT American Bulldog mix myself. His dam is a red red nose APBT and his sire is a big white american bulldog. He has the short height of a APBT and the gameness of a APBT. Those are characteristics he inherited from his dams side. While on the other hand he has the body structure and head of a American bulldog which he inherits from his sire.

So yeah if you really wanna know what his breed is then take tanner g's advice and get his ped. That's the best way to tell for certain, but us trying to guess what he is might only bring forth more confusion.

oh really???.....either you talk too much, or you don't know the definition of the term gameness

Well obviously I'm not speaking in the terms of dog fighting but rather in the way that he gives his all at whatever he does.If It was up to him he would shake the hell out of a springpole until he died from exhaustion. fortunately for him and his well being I dont allow him to do so. But to respond to your statement no I do not talk too much and yes I do know what gameness means, but I'm not speaking of gameness in a literal fighting sense.

gameness is proven one way and one way only, and it aint with a damn springpole.... if that were the case my daughters mini dachshund is a game dog, I lower it down and he will work it for hours. good thing for him I know when to pick him up or hed go out dead game. *rolls eyes*

Sure whatever you say bro... I can tell by my dogs willingness to do any task I put him up to That he has A certain level of gameness. Pitbulls willing to fight to the death is a unnatural trait bred into them by man. It goes against survival. In order for a dog to go against survival they have to be willing to do whatever their owner wants them to do. do you really think after all the selective breeding done by dogmen from back in the day that pitbulls of today didn't retain the wilingness to perform at any task without ever giving up. when you see a bulldog pulling weights and he stops in the middle of the pull and just gives up but then you see a pitbull pulling weight and he just keeps pushing through to the end even though the weight might be difficult for him to pull. is that not a certain level of gameness. I dont buy the notion that testing your dog is the ONLY way to know if hes game or not. most APBT are game to a degree some more game than others.

well bro, your misuse of the term gameness is very common nowadays, yet it always makes me chuckle. proven..untested..game or cur...that's all there really is, and weight pull has absolutely nothing to do with any of it. think what you like, but there aren't levels of gameness, either a dog is game, or it is a cur, plain and simple. carry on, im done with this silly discussion and I don't give a rats ass about your halfbreed
