do you think this dog is an APBT

"Registered dog." That means nothing. Registered with which registry? And as what breed? Anyone can go out and buy a Continental Kennel Club registered "APBT" and the dog could have 40 breeds in it. Hell, most Bullies are registered with UKC (at least, sometimes even ADBA) as "APBTs."

I don't care if the dog has blue eyes, blue eyes do not mean the dog is not an APBT. "Could" the dog be an APBT? Sure. Based on type and structure alone, though, I would put my money on that dog being a Bully or Bully mix.

    Post the pedigree already.

He's very handsome. Looks like APBT and Am Bully cross if anything. His head looks Am Bully but he is in nice shape, doesn't have the typical overdone bully build.

Good point...I have a known crossbreed that is registered as a purebred both in a breed registry and the UKC. It was a big "oops" on the breeder's part, the dam slept with another dog I guess as well as the intended stud, but it goes to show anyone can register an animal for what it's not.

He's a nice looking dog but, I don't think it's an APBT. Pedigree is more important than pictures unless they are hung. Which very well may be the case. Although, maybe the dog is an APBT just with lot's of flaws going on (by the breed standard). He has a nice body shape but the head strikes me as Am bulldog or am bully. Post the pedigree, you got me interested..

Looks like a bull & terrier mix to me. Not bred well enough to be a sterling conformation example of any one breed of dog. There appear to be hints of more than one bull & terrier based breed of dog in him. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he is scatterbred, with no predominant bloodline in his pedigree. While that isn't unusual even in purebred and registered dogs, it could help explain the speculation you are experiencing.

Regardless, it isn't always about looks anyway. In fact, that isn't what bull & terriers were bred for to begin with. If that dog hunts and does its job well, who cares what it looks like. If that dog is a family pet and companion and you couldn't ask for a finer one, who cares what it looks like.

But I digress. The question was, "Do you think this dog is an APBT?" ... not based on his crop LOL. But seriously, I've seen enough variations in purebred and registered dogs to know that the dog MIGHT be. It all boils down to the pedigree. You tell us what that is. If you can't, I'm inclined to say mixed or bull & terrier mix.

IF he is an APBT, I'm gonna say he is tightly bred redboy. Probably through bingo. I was looking through peds online and there are a few of them that have heavy white markings and flews like this dog. Purely my imagination running wild at this point lol.

You gonna post a ped yet???

    Great points.

If I bought that dog and WANTED an purebred APBT, I'd be kind of upset just seeing what people are explaining. I'm new to the details of the breed so its not anything I would've picked up on seeing the dog in person myself. But then again, if I were spending a decent amount on it, I would've done a crap ton of research to be sure I got what I paid for.

Agree with body/head as per standard. Head is maxed out for sure, bully mix imo. My white APBT has one blue eye, it is a flaw but it is not uncharacteristic of APBT's to have them. Two I see on this guy....he's fortunate to have his hearing! :) Enjoy...he's perty :)
