I've never dealt with Dagger, but some of their dogs look a bit Amstaff-ish.

The one bitch looks a bit Ambully-ish.

I didn't say they all looked at that way. I just posted that one, in case, he asked which one. lol.

Here's the dog on their homepage. Looks a bit thick boned, like it has Amstaff blood or something. At least, appears that way to me. Fine looking dog, but doesn't appear like an APBT to me.

Not sure.

This is the first I am seeing them. I saw some Lar-San in like the fifth generation of one of the dogs, but all the dog up front didn't look familiar to me.

I know Omar Ross personally he will tell you they are all pure bred APBT's.
Believe me I would never argue the point with him. I like the guy & have some of his harnesses too:). Bone was my favorite one. I met Dragon years ago too when I was back in So. Cal. for a show (I grow up in So Cal). Thats when I met Omar (late 1998 or 1999).
He's been up here with some of his dogs SW Washington/Oregon.
I made the mistake of asking if a Whopper dog was related to his dogs......
Big mistake:D:lol:, but I still like him (Omar), he's always been really nice to me.

I sent him an e-mail and he never returned. While i'm not doubting him, getting defensive doesn't mean he's telling the truth lol. Is dragon r.i.p? I like the dog that is owned by night train kennels too, maybe even more than dragon look wise.

that's what i was asking about, hearing they have presa canario in them. Presas are a mastiff breed. CHJ, i know the dagger dogs have a lot of UKC show blood in them to adress your amstaff question. plus the dogs we posted pics of are well over 100 lbs.

Yeah, I am not bad talking the guy or his dogs, but they seem awfully big and big boned is all. Most of the dogs don't look bad. I would just be surprised if they are only APBTs.

That makes sense, Garrett, since many UKC dogs are Amstaffs, or at least, have some Amstaff blood.

Purebred apbt's are usually between 45-60 lbs (generally speaking). If a purebred bulldog is 80 lbs, it's considered huge.

Dagger dogs are usually well over 100 lbs.

yeah i have seen some ginormous ukc show dogs. these daggers dogs are so tall too though, which makes things interesting as well.

I'm not trying start anything, but I personally know UKC people that have PURE APBT's that are on the LARGER size, 20 to 23 inches tall weighing 80 to 100 lbs. (not conditioned). Really I'm not BS'ing you. I might be fat, but I don't like a fat APBT (except for my spayed house dog:lol:).
I have been in this breed or around this breed from the age of 7 year old, I'm now 49 years old.
I've done some breeding through the year and have been around a lot of breeders. One thing I have found is everyone likes their own TYPE of APBT. I prefer a med. to smaller dog. more the average type. That said.

Lets say you have an average size dog and you breed it to a smaller dog you will get anywhere from average to smaller sizes. Now you take one of the smaller size dogs and breed it back to a smaller relative from the same line you get more of the smaller dogs. (I used smaller because thats what I like:D) Same goes for the reverse. My son bred two littermates, the male being 18 inches tall and the female being 17 inches tall. All the pups came out Staffy Bull size , 12 to 14 inches tall. I even brought the female pup the a show and showed a Staffy Bull breeder . She told me I could show her as Staffy Bull and if I didn't tell anyone no one would know. I thought that was too funny...........

Dagger dogs are NOT bred for show or stander size, they are bred for size and weight pull. But there are some that are smaller, and as for weight if you notice NONE of these dogs are conditioned.

I can see the possibly of like a male that is supposed to be 70, just being outweigh, and reaching 100, though that is quite an overweight dog.

Those dogs don't look very fat. They do seem to have some fat on them, but they seem like their bones are just larger as well. They don't seem overly obsese. So, you'd think if they were conditioned at 70lbs. They'd still only be like 80lbs. being overweight (I'd think).

I know you and I have had this discussion before, and I can see the possibility, but just don't get why someone would do it.

I mean APBTs in their 60/70s are great pullers, heck, even smaller APBTs are great pullers. Why breed huge dogs, when the smaller dogs do the job just fine?

Like I said CHJ, I'm with you on the smaller, more on the average size. When I weight pulled my boy Kane I would drop weight off him, he did better. I pulled him at 61 lbs, but he did better at 56 to 58 lbs.
Like I said I know Omar and I like the guy. I have personally saw/loved on, Bones, Dragon, Blade, Shank, Loco and other Dagger dogs.
It's all in what you want and like.
As I'm typing my new pup is trying to chew on one of my blankets, but I would not trade her for anything. I have finely gotten my OFRN (again).
Take Care :D

I was talking about gamedogs in my previous post about size. You mentioned you've seen 100 pound UKC dogs. You said the magic word (or should I say letters, LOL!)...UKC. Show dogs are bred for size and appearance, no surprise there if some of the dogs are big. And I think everyone would agree that a gamedog and a UKC dog are two very different animals.

Aside from weight pull, what else are dagger dogs used for??? I havn't heard of them being used for anything else. I'm not trying to disrespect dagger dogs, but to say they're purebred apbt's.....well, let's just say I'll let everyone make up their own mind about that. JMHO.

those are the traits that the ukc bred for look at dogs like corvino's bradock, colby's bobtail, tramp and wilder's geranimo these were all beutiful big gamedogs they fell into peoples hands that only liked looks not game. back in the day dogman were conditioning several dogs at one time, they didnt have the time or energy to put into the big dog so they culled them out of their breeding program. But every once and a whil a bigun slipps through Mayday, Jocko, hammonds dogs and redboy dogs just part of the game
