That is how it was with Tess. She was the only black pup. All of her brothers and sisters were either red or buckskin, and many of them had red noses. Her dam had a red nose, but her sire was colored up much like Tess.

OFRN is a bloodline. Dogs bred down from McCoy, Lightner, Wallace, and Hemphill dogs are considered old family red nose dogs. According to Hemphill, it was McCoy who first started using the term "Old Family Red Nose" for the strain. From what I understand, many strains have been crossed with the OFRN at some time in their existence. Consequently, nearly any strain will occasionally throw a red nosed pup.

    Oh brother.....

ya, a bunch of real quality crap!

But seriously though, this thread was not meant to bash kennels or teir dogs...but to let more people be aware of the BYB's and peddlers.
  7. i have a red nose mixed with the "razors edge"i didnt look into her bloodlines.....i held her,and saw her precious 3 1/2 week old little body in my hands i couldnt puther down.i had to rescue her.the guy was going to bring her to the shelter and just wanted to find her a home.he was selling her siblings at bars all day but noone wanted her because she was the "runt".that was the best thing that ever happened to me.the is my absolute happiness in this cruel world.i dont care about her bloodline although i know research is important about this breed.....she is my true love.

I always love these threads....I heard something new the other day. I went into a sub shop and somebody noticed me come out of my car. Now my license plate is obvious that I love pitbulls. So they asked me about them. What kind do you have? Of course...I expect her to tell me about her dogs' nose colors. She apparantly has a red crackle tip. WTF? I heard somebody else say the same thing later that day. WHAT is a red crackle tip? Sounds like something somebody's hustling on the street corner.

I want to slap people when they say "I have a PURE pit." Or "He comes from PURE pit lines."

    Do you have papers?

"Nah, but he's pure pit. I seen his parents."

Kingfish. all the time. to further it they think kingfish are 100+# dogs
    Rednose always red nose.

I always tell people my dog is a mutt. They only time I usually call him a pit bull is on here for ease of typing. and when strange people come over just to joke with them. "Watch out now! Thats one of them pitbulls." Which mars follows with kisses.

I've never ran into anyone who had anything bad to say about my boy though. Except me. But thats because I just look at him and speculate what he might infact be.

    DaisyMayPTBL Puppy

    Totally Agree -
Daisy posiibly has RE in her but she was a rescue and I love her either way but Ive explained many times to this BYB that I work with that RE's are mutts.
And no matter how many times I tell her mine is spayed she continues to ask If I want to breed her.
  18. DaisyMayPTBL

    DaisyMayPTBL Puppy

Similar to how I got my Daisy May - Wouldn't fight so they bred her and then when they couldn't make anymore money from her they dumped her - 30 pounds underweight and sick on some wonderful womans doorstep - she held onto her til a rescue could be found. An all-breed I was working with called me to foster her for a while til a home could be found - Needless to say, Daisy was my foster failure. She's my world.

The newest version I've seen lately is Remyline....kind of sad/sick IMHO that an entire "line" was based on one dog...ouch, kind of how we are stuck as AST breeders with very limited diverse breeding stock - I always thought that was the cool thing about APBTs; there is still quite a diverse breeding pool.
