Chains, not much of a debate

Brutus is on a Titan® Welded Link Tie Out Chain, 20 ft. x 3.8 mm. Its not very heavy, maybe 6-8lbs for all 20ft of the chain. Its the only chain he hasn't broken...it feels very light when you pick it up by the end and drag it around. I don't even think Brutus notices it until he trips on it.

ten ft? could i go 20 or 30 without it making a difference?? its not so much the chain hangin from the dog but its him pulling the weight everytime he wants to go from one end of the spot to the next.

Yeah, all mine are on 15ft. except Tess has a 20ft (they didn't have any 15 ft available that day, so, we decided to go a size up instead of down).

You know i have spent time reading this forum and i think if you have a problem with someone owning "eight or more dogs" then you need to get a different breed, period. Buddy's Mom, you need to go back and know where and what your dog comes from. I don't care whether we like the fact that just because we don't use our dogs for the wrong reasons, we are right by not using chains. Because the fact of the matter is these dogs were designed from DAY ONE, built from day one, to do one thing... And that is how they are used to being cared for most of the time, OUT ON CHAINS. I have more respect for the people who just say, "it's not what i do, but i understand". For someone who owns a PBT to even say, "why do they need so many dogs" shows me that they don't love this breed they just love dogs. Seriously think about that. And of course there are some a--holes who don't do things properly, but that doesn't speak for everyone else PERIOD.

For those that are just joining this discussion, please take the time to read the ENTIRE thread from beginning to end before calling someone out by name.

For example, it doesn't take much to see throughout the thread that members such as buddysmom have since changed their views on chaining. And that was in large part to the factual and down-to-earth posting by several members that helped to change such minds.

So let's keep this thread a good one for people to learn from and leave the hatred and rash posts untyped.

Check the time stamp on the posts, read the ENTIRE thread, and check this member's history before calling her out by name. This thread was started over two years ago.

i see that but if i just seen it and made a post, then and if you look at the post, late posts are all over it, and i didn't call anyone out, there name, or yall just misread what i wrote. So buddys mom if you do read that don't misunderstand wat i wrote-i see that you changed your mind, which you didn't hav to that was more for those who have the same opinion as you had

I understand basically it's hard to read through 15 pages of anything :)

Basically when I see something that was originally started so long ago, but has been discussed recently, I find it best to browse through the last few pages and then join in the discussion at hand, but that's just me.

    Anyhow no biggie.

Not sure. None of my dogs have ever tried to dig up the stake.

Bransen is very smart and a crazy digger. If I chained that's something I would worry about.
