Cat got out and I feel awful :(

Wind has been bad today... so bad it blew open the back door. I could've sworn I locked it last night but I must not have. The door is rather fucked up. It doesn't catch so won't stay closed on its own unless the boltlock is done.

I woke up 15 minutes before my alarm to my roommate knocking. One of the cats disappeared. We went looking all over theneighborhood, posted flyers. I've been posting all over local forums, one for the HOA, the city, the humane society's forum and facebook. Next step is to call local AC and vets.
We put her food bowl and litter box in the garage and are keeping it cracked open. Sprinkled some catnip out there too lol.
She has no collar but is microchipped. Shes a timid little thing. I doubt anyone will catch her if they do find her.

Is there anything else we can do? :(

There are coyotes out here. That worries me a lot. A very busy road at the entrance to the subdivision too. I feel so terrible about this. He seems to have no hope she'll return.

Is the cat strictly an indoor cat? Does she have her claws?

    Have you checked in bushes?

My neighbors cat got out last year. Someone was watching the cats while she was out of town and didn't realize the cat was near the door when it was opened. Shit happens.

She was outside for 10 days. We have coyotes so I was sure she was gone. But I had one of dogs out and he kept pulling and whining at a bush. Turns out the cat was in there. Got her out with some fish flavored canned dog food.

Just ours and the immediate neighbors. Zach thought about checking other places but felt weird going up to other peoples houses like that.

x2 on the bushes. Or if you and the neighbors have any sheds, check those too. The first time my cat was outside, she spent 4 days hiding in the shed, when she wasn't pretending to be a feral cat.

I'm sure if you explained it, most people would understand. If you have fliers maybe you could also drop them off to neighbors to help you keep an eye out.

Went up and down the block checking bushes, calling her. Checked sewers too. No signs of her.

We handed out flyers to quite a few people.

Might just be one of those wait and see kind of things. :(

Im going to go out tonight before I go to bed and look again. Then again in the morning at about 3. Maybe she'll be out of hiding when its dark.
I really hope she turns up. I love Rose. He adopted her back when we were still dating and I spent so much time bonding with her and getting her out of hiding. I am not a cat person but I still loved that damn thing.

Everyone posts on craigslist's pets section for lost and found animals for our location... maybe yours too.

Also, tell your neighbors that have basement windows that are broken, to check their basement.

There aren't any around here. Texas people rarely have basements it seems. Same with crawl spaces. It was weird coming from Chicago where almost every home has one or the other or both even to here.
The HOA doesn't allow sheds, so that rules out two possible hiding spots at least.

Thanks for the well wishes guys.
Read through that link goingpostal. Makes me hopeful that she is nearby and will just stay in hiding for a while.

    Any news?

Nothing yet. I'm still hopeful at this point, since she is such a skittish cat that she is staying where ever shes at and just hasn't hit that point where she is willing to come out. The food in the garage hasn't been touched.
