Or maybe people can learn about the SEARCH button

Or maybe people can learn to read the whole thread befor posting. This is an old thread that was brought back, probably from searching.

Sure blue is just a color but theres alot more behind it.

What is behind it? lol.

It's a resessive gene. Xx (black) and Xx (black) can make xx = blue. That is all that freaking matters.

Okay I think I got the whole Razors Edge American Bully thing for the most part. What I am wondering is, if I want to get a blue pit does it have to have Razors Edge in it? I love the blue color but only want a full APBT. I dont want an American Bully. I know there is some other bloodlines I see usually mixed with RE like Gotti or Greyline etc and was wondering if those are also American Bully? It is some what confusing. I would like to get another Pit, I want a beefy one with a larger head but dont want anything but full pit. So what bloodlines would be good for me then? Thanks
NO No blue pits if its blue its not a pit

Why is it more of an occurance for true amstaffs to be blue (or you see more of them) than APBT? I know they are different breeds but, since they both started from the same dog and never anything else, why is there so many more blue amstaffs then blue apbt? Is it because Amstaffs are bred for show and, that is a prettier color or something? It is not as if amstaffs were crossed to another breed to get the color since they the same dogs bred for sifferent purposes, so in turn a different breed. Make sense?
Color was BRED FOR more often in the AKC gene pool. There were blues from the very beginning (there is a picture of a blue Am Staf champion in the 1940 Am Staf yearbook. His color is described as "blue gray and white"). That dog's parents were some of the first APBTs registered with the AKC as Am Stafs in 1936. THEY were both black, which meant they BOTH had to carry dilution, which means the gene came from the UKC gene pool. It just did not get bred for much there in UKC. I don't think the blue in Am Stafs became really popular until the 80s maybe? And of course, many blue Am Stafs were bred back into the UKC gene pool, where blue became more popular than ever.
