Like I said the guy could have been telling me anything he wanted. He seemed truthful but looked a little shady :) you can never be sure. He was asking $500 I paid $250 since she was the last one. I have owned a couple APBT and would love it if it ended up looking "Bully" I think they look better than the "real" pitbulls as some people put it but as long as she is healthy and loving it don't matter.

Heck, if you like the American Bully more, then good, because that's what you have bought, just make sure to call it what it is, and not what it isn't. It isn't an American Pit Bull Terrier. :)

I have owned 2 APBT in the last 15 years and before we had "Ambullys" everyone wanted the biggest pit they could get. And now they found a way to make a breed look more muscular and all of a sudden this is a bad thing?

If you want to get down to it your right. Its not a PITBULL by AKC standards. But if your a true APBT lover than is should not matter if it is an off breed of an APBT because people that truly love pit bulls love them because of there personality's. The way they love to lay with you and snuggle or the way they look over your family like it is there own not because of what there papers say. Anyone that truly knows the APBT knows there they personality's are dominate is just about all breeds.

Now once again this is only my opinion and my mine only. if others feel that way great if not thats also great.. I was not even going to get into this whole thing but i'm not going to sit here and let someone bash me because of what i think. I joined this forum cause it looked like it had a bunch of mature people that loved the breed no matter if it is full or mixed. If I'm at the wrong place than let me know.

I ride a bike and I'm a tattoo artist I find people like this all the time. Other artists get mad when people call Tattoo machines, "Tattoo Guns" and other bikers talk crap about people that dont ride a Harley. My response is always the same. No matter what you call it still is a tool that creates art and no matter what you ride the wind blows threw your hair all the same. Now i have not thought of one for my love for Pits not matter what mix they are but the message is all the same. The point is we love the breed and thats all that matters. Do i get the same looks at people at the parks, Yes. If my dog was to bit someone would it not be labeled as a pitbull? You bet your arse she would. So it might not be 100% APBT and if that is what is required to be on this forums let me know and I'll be more than happy to leave. If not than stop bashing people for the way they feel..

There are no "Pit Bulls" by AKC standards. lol.

Nope, you are more than welcome to love and enjoy the breed you want. No doubt. However, one should call it by the right name, no? I have friends who love both the American Bully and the APBT, and since they do love both breeds, they call each breed by the correct name, and don't try to pass it off as something it is not (not saying you are, just trying to explain).

Ok by who ever standards :) . And yes I totally agree. I just dont see what the big deal is by saying Bully Pit bull!! I'm not saying 100% pit bull but my dog has a lot of pit bull in it. I mean that's like saying people should not call Africa-Americans, Africa-Americans because there descendants are from Africa.

The op just asked a question, then stated his preference in looks of an ambully over the apbt and boy do you guys get sensitive! I also prefer "bully type" pit bulls over "finely conditioned gamebred dogs"...so what?! Get over yourselves, when someone shows up asking a few questions don't jump straight down their throat just because they might mention the sacred apbt in the same sentence as the dreaded ambully. Some one really should move these type of threads to the ambully section asap before it turns into breed bashing like "please don't mention ambully and healthy in the same sentence". Mention re or gotty anywhere else and you're doomed. Oh yeah good luck with your pup, no papers and looking to be a pet, I suggest spaying.

This was Cleo at 13 weeks and around 30ish lbs.
Looks like a COMPLETELY different dog now, IMO!

And this is her now at 11 months and 50.1lbs.

To the OP, your pup is a cutie! :p

PH. I completely agree with you. That pup is adorable. Pitbull is a generic term for all bull breeds. It does NOT just stand for APBT anymore. If you want a gamey dog, get an APBT. Show dog, or pet: GET AN AMBULLY! Ambullies aren't made for strenuous work. We know that. We are here on your side Deja, we love bullies in the bully thread. Ask Shon or Purple for permission, and stick with us. There are a lot of us on the bully end that can answer many a questions you ask. Even dealing with shows, and some breeding. I honestly do not even like posting in other parts of PBC anymore because it seems like it is turning into PBC/GAMEDOG.
Come on guys, can't bull breeds and owners all just get along....
Personally, it offends me, and I don't appreciate it. K THX!

Pit Bull is a general term for those who don't know any better. I feel as Bully breed lovers, since, we do know better, we should know better than to call any bully bred looking dog a "pit bull", especially if we know what it's real breed is.

I've never heard that stupid term before, there is no such thing, American Bully or APBT, one or the other, no excused. Around here, I say "pitbull" when speaking to people about dogs, people are too stupid to know what an APBT even is, like the one guy that said to me when I mentioned APBT, "Oh I don't have one of those, it must be a new breed, I have a blue nose pitbull"

The only pit bull is the apbt, and it is a generic term anyways, your dog is not an American Pit Bull Bully, so get that term out of your head...

There is no way predicting how they will turn out. You just have to wait and see. You have a cute pup though and I look forward to watching it grow.

I too use the term pit bull to my friends that know what I am talking bout every now and again. April, don't you think you should try to educate these dumb people? The term pit bull can be referred to as ANY bull breed now. I usually. Use the term bully or ambully .
  20. phbullies

    phbullies Big Dog

Calling a dog a pit bull to me is like calling a dog a "retriever". Without stating the specific kind such as golden, black lab, etc it is generic. If someone asked me "Is that an apbt?" I would be inclined to say no. But if someone asked "Is that a pit bull?" I'd probably say yes. Only because I view the words "pit bull" as a generic way to describe similar breeds and not a pin pointing term to be used only for the apbt. Maybe thats wrong and I should try to do better to educate, but the "bully type pit bull" combo doesn't bother me and no I won't ever call them American pit bull bullies. You could explain till you were as blue in the face as Chief to most folks...and they'd still walk away saying "thats a pit bull".
