Bully Pit?

Ok I bought my girl when she was 7 weeks old. The guy that sold her told me she was a "Bully" Pitbull. Bloodline Razors Edge and Gotti. Anyways I looked this up and I'm trying to see if he was right. When she was 7 weeks old she looked like she was going to be wide and short but now she is 11 weeks old she seems to be thinning out and looks a little tall to be a Bully. Maybe she row into her hight and turn out to be wide and stocky. I was looking for a bully style pit but in the end it dont matter. She is a great dog and loving. I was just wanting to clear this up. I will post some Pictures and let me know what you guys think.

Here are pics when she was 7 and half weeks OLD.

Here are pics at 11 an half weeks OLD.

Any help or ideas what she will look like in a year would be great. Like i said Bully or not it makes no difference. It just would be nice to know what to expect.

    Thanks scott

What do the parents look like that can be an indication?
    Is she registered ??
dogs go thru many stages while growing not uncommon to get tall and lanky looking
the term Bully pit is something a Backyard breeder would say he may have told you razorsedge and gotti because he had heard of them before
If the dog is truly Razors Edge and Gotti its going to be an Ambully

The 7 week old pics look like a pretty chubby, long backed puppy. Legs are a bit short. At 8 weeks, you would have gotten a pretty good idea as to what proportions your adult dog might end up with. At 11, you have a growing puppy, and it will look anything but what it will look like when it is grown up.
No worries (since you are shooting for the short look).. your pup won't look sporty or athletic. It'll be long backed and pretty short legged. If you keep the dog fat, you will probably be able to pull off the Bully look without a problem.

"If you keep the dog fat" ?

Is that the kind of advice a moderator should be giving a newcomer ?

Unless you actually know the peds of the parents [or have pictures of them], no true way of knowing.

Looks AMBully to me, but without papers you just have a dog IMO that could be anything

looks like its already going to have a barrel chest, a giant head, and short legs to me. *shrug*

If you have papers and the bloodlines are Gotti and RE, then it is a breed (breed in development) called the American Bully. If you don't have papers, then it could be a mix bred dog. No way to know for sure. :)

Chj said it all. With papers andwhat the guy said is correct, then it is an american bully. A very pretty dog indeed. An american bully should not be fat. They should however have muscle definition, but still have some weight to them. You will have a very nice ambully.

agreed with everyone else about the only way to know for sure is if you have papers. A lot of American Bullies are registered as APBT, which is a practice that will hopefully come to an end, soon. Typically, the term "bully pit" means an American Bully, your pup looks more like that than it does an APBT. Puppies go through a lot of awkward stages as they grow up, where some parts of their bodies maybe horribly out of proportion, this is normal, and you don't need to worry about it. Just keep the pup healthy, don't let it be too skinny or too fat, let her have plenty of play time, don't over work her, and she should be fine.

Thanks for the replies. The guy I got her from "said" she was from that bloodline but you know how that goes. As for papers he said I was able to them but it was going to be an extra $100. I drove 8 hours to get her and when I got there the guy looked a little shady if you know what i mean. Since I'm not going to breed her or show her I opted not to get the papers. It really makes no difference what she is. She is such a great dog and very gentle with my 11 month old. I was just wondering I prefer the look of the "Bully" just my opinion. As long as she is healthy no worries.

Do you have pics from the internet of mom and dad? While some may like that bully look, are you aware of the serious health problems most of those dogs have when they are built like that?

well, if the bloodlines are correct, that's an ambully pup but that's nothing remotely close (temperament or physically speaking) to an apbt however IMO..

just call it what it is, even if to you it doesn't matter (which shouldn't anyways, so that's great! you should see the number of people offended when we tell them they just spend over 2000$ on some ambully and not apbt ).

there is just no need to further the GP's idea that the apbt is this 100+ lbs beast ;)
    hope this helps :D

Bullys arent all those big chunky dogs , they come in different syles you can have 2 pups from the same litter be completely different style. she looks fine its hard to tell that young how they will turn out. mine at 10 weeks was huge and bully lookin and has since thinned out and im pretty sure she is more classic style bully but again she is still growing. as for the height there are different heights as well the abkc just changed the females under 16'' are classified as pockets and i cant remember if its over 18''-19'' im sure you can look it up is the xl class and anything between that is normal. Did you happen to see the parents? that could give you a guestamit as to the height and weight but not always. without papers its hard to tell what lines you have anyways. just be happy she is gogeous and size shouldnt matter.

I don't do guesstimates, if I would have done that with Tyson he would be a 70lb dog, he is 39lbs :). And is an Ambully, you are right, they aren't all big and overdone :)

Still hoping to see pictures of the parents!
