Ive seen it said that bullies first grow up, and then out. I guess I cant picture how this looks. As a favor to a visual person, could someone post pictures of a growing AmBully so I can get a better idea of the stages?

    please and thank you!

Ambullies mature slower then the APBT, you can expect them to grow and fill out until they are about 2 1/2

so when they are growing, is there a propensity to look more leggy like an APBT and then buff out?

Yes... they say "pop" rather than buff out usually. Asking a friend if I can use a picture of her dog for an example

from what i'v read, they reach their height at 8 months then start widening from there. Its just what i read online so i cant prove it since i only have a 5month old bully

Honestly, most dogs grow that way, especially Pit Bull types. Piper was around 35lbs. at 15 months, I thought she was done. Over the next few months she gained 15lbs., it was insane. She's now 56lbs. and will be 3 in November.

But Sako, who is an Amstaff, is the same way. He grew "up" til he was about 14-15 months, and is now starting to fill out. He probably won't be completely done til he's at least 3yrs., based on his lines.

There may be spurts of growth but like CK said most don't fully mature till at least two years of age.

Poppa grew 2 inches from the time he was 15 months to 2, granted he is the only one that I have had do that and he was an XL. Fergus has not grown an inch since he was 14 months old. But he has filled out a lot. When I get time I will go through his pics from pup until now and post them.

I didn't know if you wanted me to post them in your PM, or in your thread. I'm guessing you'd rather me contribute and post them here, lol.

Ask and you shall recieve. :)

    12-ish weeks

    thanks Pink! you're awesome! :)

I definitely see the filling out between the 8 months and 2 years. When he's a young pup it looks like there is still a lot of resemblance to APBT/AmStaff pups.

I'll post pics when I'm on my comp but most dogs grow up for the first year then the next year or 2 they fill out.
Most people call it the uglies when they are all leggy and awkward looking.

No problem. Sorry it took so long!

Yeah but ya know, I still get that now. I have a dog friend here that says he looks like a bully from the front and a "Pit Bull" from the side. She calls him a BullyPit, jokingly of course. ;)

    See here for example:

I have no problem with bully-but-athletic dogs! If I wanted something that waddled along and had breathing problems Id choke-chain a goose! LOL :p
