Breed discrimination in the Service Dog world

As of right now I will just call this a rumor. My source is supposed to send the documents to verify the information tomorrow or sometime soon...

The ADA and FAA have made an amendment, from my understanding, that will be banning 6 breeds from being accepted as Service Animals effective in April. APBT included but not mixes thereof or "Staffys" ....not sure if he meant AST or SBT or both. He also said the Standard Poodle and St Bernard were on the list. :/ Current dogs would be grandfathered in.

Well. Ban is a word very hard and I dont like it, however, in another hand, some breeds are excellent for services and others not tending to it.

I dont know US context regarding it and if it is isolated to their agencies, if yes, maybe they are right. Theres no reason to invest in a breed that usually are not used to service.

In my country, each role is played by a breed. Example: Police/Military Dogs - German Shepperd and Belgium Shepperd (Malinois); Drugs Searches - BloodHound & Beagle...

Theres a math behind the scenes. Beagle is cheaper to feed more than Malinois and they need a bunch of beagles to sniff all bags at the airport...

    So... 50 cents.

was there a reason given as to why these breeds will be banned?

I'm calling shinanigins on this one- How reliable is this source?
I really just can't see something like this quietly popping up, and I'm a member of enough SD groups that I would be suprised to find it true and this be the first I'm hearing of it.
Though if people keep falsley labeling bull breeds Service Dogs and Emotional Support Animals to try and get out of BSL or housing restrictions it may become an issue in the future, however that's more of a general faking issue than breed specific I would assume.

    Add:
Standard Poodles and St Bernards would be a strange ban as well- Poodles make great SDs and St Bernards make good mobilitiy animals from what I've heard.

That's exactly why I'm just calling it a rumor as of right now.
Guy is the owner of a dog training facility in NY (offers service dog training) and said he sat in on a meeting where they were discussing this matter. I hope he misunderstood something.

Did he say what type of meeting it was and who else was there (politicians, newspapers, etc.?)?

That would be a very strange move, and if it is real, I'm curious as to how they decided on the breeds for this ban. Doesn't make much sense at all.

Nope. Didnt mention any of that which is why I asked him to send me some documentation on the matter. Im waiting on him to provide it. If he doesnt get back to me by the end of the day, Ill remind him.

Again, really hoping there was some sort of misunderstanding on his end. I don't think he would intentionally misrepresent information but I don't know the man that well. We have chatted about bite sports and he gave me some feedback about a trainer and group in my area but that's about it. The reason this came up was because someone was trying to see if they could pass off their ball pytbon as a service animal in the BP group were both in -_____- then we started talking about the laws.
