Boxer or AmBulldog?

I'm an admitted novice...but just looking at this picture would your first guess be boxer or american bulldog? He was a stray found yesterday near Houston described as "scared and skinny with paw pad damage."

What characteristics make y'all think one or the other?

This one is a total toss-up to me!

Not a very well bred Boxer. Probably a mix.
I would love to see a profile, but the skinny head, huge droopy flues and the stop(where muzzle connects to the skull) says boxer-y.

I'd like to see some side shots but since this is the only one, I'd say the muzzle odd for a boxer. Lips are almost too loose. I know boxers have loose lips but not so much like that. Eyes look American Bulldogish, but the ears are very much Boxer. I'd say it's either a VERY poorly bred Boxer or a mix between the two, to be honest. I see both breeds in that dog like crazy.

Ok, so at least it's not just me!

The rescue thinks they found the owner. I'll see what I can find out but probably no more pictures.

I see boxer based on the face and body combination. Looks a little like my neighbor's old boxer.

I see a lot of Boxer, but it has way too much white in his coat to be all Boxer. I also see some AB as well, and white is a dominant color of ABs, so a cross maybe...?

I've seen purebred Boxers have a lot of white.

I've seen ALL white boxers! Because it is a fault, they are usually culled. However, due to all the designer dog rage in this area a while back, they were being marketed as exotic.

Yes. That too. I've seen pure white Boxers around here a few times as well.

Oh definitely, I've seen all white Boxers, and personally I think they're gorgeous, but it is considered a serious fault. They have a tendency to be deaf and suffer from other defects. However a dog like this one that has that much flash, I'd say it's a mix if I were to guess.

Also the ears don't look like uncropped Boxer ears. I'm not criticizing at all mind you. I think this is a very handsome dog. Just saying, if asked if I think this is an American Bulldog or Boxer, I say both.
