I've mentioned I found a dog in the woods close to my hunting camp.Still had his baby teeth , he is around nine months old so he eats when he wants right now.I've been surprised to say the least. He has good speed , very athletic and pretty smart , very intense .I have observed all of this through his work ethic and willingness to work.Very good young catch dog and he will get better and better.I am interested to see him mature.Just thought I would share with you.

I never free fed, mostly for scheduling reasons. He is a nice looking dog. I feel like if I free fed my dog he would be way over weight. Sorry if off topic.

Same.. I just went too a regular diet for my male.

I still free feed my bitch Derek. No work, this is her pet weight. It's all in the genetics. This was the first time she had done anything work related in about 7 months. She just sits around the house and doesn't do much all summer. Never gets fats for some reason.

My Sorrells dogs always maintain very well but they run the chain constantly. I have got a pound or so on them for the winter. All my tighter stuff is pretty much wide open.My outcrosses are more laid back. Those Sorrells dogs are just well put together and that's one thing they throw in thier offspring.

Yeah, my boy is easy to maintain also, up until a month or so ago he was still free feeding, i did see the weight gain after we slowed down on the work, i would say he put on 2 or 3 pounds, but it is cold here and i found it's nothing too take off so im ok with it. Both of my dogs are inside dogs, afraid someone would steal them around here. id hate to lose a dog to a thief..
