I have no problem with a cat being used provided the cat gets proper care and humane treatment. I'm pretty sure our cat wouldn't mind being used in such a way once he figured out the dogs wouldn't be able to get him. Then he'd just tease and torment them because he's a cat and he can.

It's not the cat that's banned, it's the entire contraption. I prefer the term Jenny. Jennies have been banned.

Ya, still don't agree with the rabbit. I'm more worried about the animal stressing out/feeling like crap. If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't worry. If the animal actually didn't care, I wouldn't care.

A true, driven APBT does not require live bait to encourage it. End of story. Live bait is ridiculous. It is stressful and completely unnecessary. If the dog requires live bait to exercise, the dog's not properly driven.

Anyway, these dogfighting laws are completely useless. All they do is punish responsible pit bull owners and people who own actual working APBTs. They are never going to stop fighting. At which point is someone who's already breaking the law going to say, "Oh. I'm just breaking the law TOO much now". Banning breaksticks isn't going to make a street fighter suddenly rethink his life.

These are laws built on assumptions that exercise equipment and breaksticks automatically make someone a fighter. It's like the laws that ban springpoles, treadmills, and chaining. It's like the authorities automatically assuming they've stumbled across a fighting ring when they see a couple pit bulls kept outside on chains, barking. Hell, in some places having a pit bull that's conditioned is putting yourself and your dog under the watchful eye of neighbors and the police. It's ridiculous.

And it's all just as ridiculous as laws that try to make dog aggressive pit bulls out to automatically be fighting dogs. If it's dog aggressive, it's either been trained to fight, bred to fight, or already fought. And it's going to eat people. That's what it all comes down to with these laws.

What are you guys not understanding? They didn't ban the use of live bait. It doesn't matter how you feel about live bait. They banned the DEVICE. it doesn't matter if the bait is a teddy bear tied to a rope. If they see you with a jenny on your property it doesn't matter if it's a tug toy for bait, YOU ARE A DOGFIGHTER and they're killing your dogs and taking you to jail.

Aren't the same things used to exercise horses and ponies?

I don't suppose they're making that illegal too..?
