Was there no contract in place for this dog? Most reputable rescues insist a dog be returned at the ADOPTER'S EXPENSE if they cannot keep the dog.

Have you tried searching craigslist, she may have posted the dog on there

There was a verbal agreement, and since I trusted the woman, the contract wasn't a big issues, but excuses kept coming up as to why it wasn't signed and in my hands - that was my mistake... I trusted the fucker.

Nothing. They've all dropped off of the face of the earth.

Every rescue, pound, local and non-local ad website, forum etc. will be alerted of her and Roxy very soon.

Roxy is at the Peninsula SPCA - where she started out as a 3mo puppy.

You guys might have seen my "Keep Hunter in Your Thoughts" thread, I was over at that dog's house and just leaving when Animal Control pulled up. I assumed it was because of the other dogs at the house raising hell 24/7.. He asked if one of the girls who lived there was home, and it took me a second, but that was the girl who adopted Roxy. I could barely talk when I asked if he had a black Pit Bull. I kept myself together until I saw her in the truck, then I cried like a baby in front of him and all the neighbors. Her microchip was registered to the address still.. She was still wearing the collar that Mollie's Nana sent me for Jaeger a long time ago. I don't think she recognized me, but she was still happy, she was even fat. I've never been so torn in my life, I just moved into a small house with my friend and her baby, and Sparkles and Jaeger and am broke as it gets - the dogs eat on days I don't. I didn't know what else to do. So after I got ahold of myself I told him everything about her I could think of, and he stayed with me for a long time. I told him about you guys, how she spent seven months in a small crate and that didn't damper her spirits a bit, how the bitch who adopted her broke the contract, her broken leg, her training, everything. After all that all I could do was point at her in the cage and sob - That is one special dog. And I had to walk away.

I think I will go visit her, I don't know. You know, bring her toys and whatnot, she was crazy for her kong. But I can't do anything for her and it's killing me, that was MY dog.

We all understand how difficult it can be settling into a new home. I too have a 'Roxy' who we rescued 8 years ago....I tell you what, she was wild and there were days if we just didn't know if we could handle it. BUT when you adopt you are adopting a 'forever' friend....much like having a child....you CANNOT send that child back.
It took a year for us to be able to touch Roxy's back as she would snap at you (abuse issues at orig home) and every opportunity she could get to get free she would run and run and run....out in the road. It was a nightmare but we perservered.
Today Roxy is a grand old lady who loves us with every fibre of her being.I could floss her teeth if I so desired :) I truly feel that my girl would die without me.
Please try to convince these people that your "Roxy" is worth the extra work. It will pay off in ways they can't imagine.
If I was any closer I would take her myself but I am in Ontario and don't know how we would get her across the border (BSL here)
    Peace and best wishes,

Even now I'm fighting with myself, keeping myself from going to get her. But what would I do if I did get her? I have roommates who have already let both of my current dogs out, and if they let Roxy and Sparkles together, Sparkles would be dead in about a minute. If Roxy and J got together, well that's not a fight I want to be in the middle of.. And the baby, there's a 4mo boy living in the house, if they got to fighting and trampled him... I'm backed into a corner here. She is my dog, she is. I've been crying all day because I can't help her and it's my fault she's where she is now. The only logical option is to just walk away, dogs die and end up in pounds every day, but my heart is breaking all over again, I was almost accepting what happened with losing her the first time.. Having to tell the ACO to take her yesterday - God I just don't know what to do with myself. I was so distraught when I was talking to him he put a hand on my shoulder and told me he would make sure she was comfortable and happy when he took her in.

I wish more than anything I was in a different situation.

That is making me almost cry..im emotional lately LOL. Poor girl. I am so sorry you are going thorough all this. I am sending you hugs! Hope Roxy finds herself a home fast. If i was near you and in my own place..id take her myself and invest in a crate so i could. I hate to hear about good dogs in bad places.

Man, that just sucks. I will say though, Peninsula SPCA is a pretty darn nice shelter (not that I'd want any of my dogs there, but still) and they do a lot of good work. Hopefully she'll find a great home through them!

oh no..... I am soo sorry I know how hard it must be. Maybe just the right person will come along and she will finally get the home she so deserves.

So has she been with the girl who adopter her the whole time and you were just unable to get in contact with her?

Oh no! Did this all happen today?

Chloe, no. She was found running scared quite a distance from the cow who got her, over two bridges, several busy intersections, and many heavy traffic, high-speed roads., and that woman made it clear she didn't want Roxy anymore, and couldn't even give me a few days to make arrangements to get her out of there. She dumped her on the first person who would take her, I guess.

It happened Thursday.. I guess I'm relieved she's alive, but now she's in danger of being PTS, though I doubt she will be because the staff will fall in love with her, the ACO already did (she was riding in the cab with him).. I guess my biggest worry is someone else will get her who doesn't understand her. This dog would be happy with anyone, she loves EVERYONE. If not for her DA and 'catch me if you can!' game, she's be perfect for just about anyone.

I'm going to go in and ask if they'll let me put some info down on her, they hand clear envelopes on the dog's cages with everything about the inside, I'll write a few pages about her and bring it... Hopefully that will help.

I was just thinking of her, wondering if you ever found out what happened. this must be heartbreaking, but she has shown herself to have quite the little resilliant pit bull heart, so there is still hope she will find her way to the perfect home. don't be hard on yourself, it's clear you would take her (and keep her) if you could.
