Arson training for BH

Back in 2011 and early into 2012 I was training Arson for his BH. Shortly after this video was shot was the spring trial we were getting ready for, unfortunately the weekend of the trial Arson got mysteriously sick with some 3 day stomach bug, and after that I decided to focus my attention on some of the other dogs. This April it will have been 2 years since I worked him in Schutzhund, but looking back at this video makes me think I need to get him back on the field and at least finish out the BH so all that hard work doesn't go to waste!

Great video! I wish there was a schutzhund club nearby for me to get J into. He has so much athletic potential and great tug drive. I'd love for him to get his BH and even more. Unfortunately, with everything we're doing (flyball, SAR training w/ the poodle, soon weight pull maybe, plus I work 115mi away), there just aren't enough days in the week.

Good looking guy tho. I've found myself partial to reds :).

Thanks I feel your pain. I work a lot of hours so even though I am fairly close to the training field for me to train 4 dogs in Schutzhund and 2 in WP gets to be too much sometimes. That is why I dropped Schutzhund with Arson. I figured I would just focus on WP with him, but unfortunately I have only had the time and energy to focus on Sydney, Ember, and Scarlett in Schutzhund at the moment.

For me it's one of those sports you don't half-ass. I know I don't have the time to commit to it, unfortunately. Right now all I have time for is teaching this guy how to not pull me on leash; that's a huge commitment in and of itself . How I wish I had him as a puppy.

Yes it's a very involved, time consuming sport (really it's 3 sports in one) people don't realize how much is involved until they get into it. It becomes a lifestyle. :)

Arson's looking so good! I need to get out and see some sch training soon- also, I think the trainer I'm trying to apprentice under trains with your club? He owns The Pet Wagon boarding/daycare service here in Durham. I didn't think I'd ever actually meet anyone into mondioring around here, haha.

Sydney, which training club are you with and where is it? My partner was supposed to PM you and ask but not sure if she remembered.

Blau I do know Juan, I trained with him for a short stint. He is a very good, very animated trainer and really knows his stuff.

I train with Piedmont Schutzhund Club out of Mt. Ulla, NC. Let me know if you'd ever like to come check it out. It's a fun all breed group, very diverse group of dogs and people :)
