My neighborhood is pretty safe (I live in the city), but a shitty area is right down the street and all trash comes from there. Feels like nowhere is safe anymore...Seriously I live in a safe neighborhood like I feel asleep with my garage door open. I have got neighbors. I didn't grow up in a safe neighborhood what's so ever. But times were different then.
I'm pretty sure Loki would as well if they offered cheese...I uploaded some side pics of him, btw, it was hard taking them, omg! He saw me with a phone and was coming up to me to check it out.The worst part is my dog would happily go with anybody

I call him a pitbull mix to people because majority of his genetics is a pitbull. The main problem behind BSL is shitty owners, millions of them, not the misconception about the breed (that is an effect, not the cause). If there were no awful BYBs out there and people that misuse the dogs, it wouldn't even matter. When people see my dog, they see a pitbull, they are not asking for papers, etc. I had to register him because to the shelter I got him from he was a pitbull, I can't have him offleash because to everyone he is a pitbull, and if he does anything he will be judged as a pitbull. Not to mention that I've had people ask to buy him (yeah, right) and had sketchy people drive by my yard back and forth, so I have to keep an eye on him at all times.
My point is people getting shitty and aggressive on a forum which is supposed to promote the breed, so it's as huge deterrent for everyone. I already get judgmental looks here, I don't need to go on a website which is supposed to promote unity, and get double judged. Someone called my dog "garbage" because he is not papered. I'd love for someone to call my baby "garbage" to my face. It's called Gopitbull, but it is not specified that it's solely for "papered" dogs that are proven to be pureblood pitbulls.
It's an interesting and thought provoking discussion on the bought my wife a puppy thread. Lots of good points that bears a true debate. The forum is a much quieter these days, unlike the lively one I joined 2 years ago. So unless there's a secret forum we weren't invited too, why is it so different? I've seen plenty of fur parents who quickly left, but it was because they thought this was a warm fuzzy place. The know-it-alls that have come here to school us on how to be owners because Great Granddaddy's way is best, usually are dispatched in pretty short order.
It was brought up on that thread we have different types of owners. That's very true, I think. But there's one thing I'd like to bring up that was not discussed. It appears it's not taken into account that many people are not only new to the breed, but have never been on a forum before. Yes, questions get answered, but might it not be better to approach new members in a more conversational manner? Just a thought. It doesn't have to be sugar coated or all smiley faces. If new people felt more included, they might just stick around to get educated. Ok, let's get this started.

The main problem with bsl started years ago and not with today's shitty owners, but with the humane organisations & animal charitiess that started and spread the original lies about the breed for money through the donations they received when they promoted their stories through the media. The publics and politicians misconception on the breed and subsequent laws all stem from these animal charities money grubbing ways.
If asked outside I call my dogs everything but what they are, good job they have a variety of body shapes or I might get called a liar.
Completely agree. Nowadays every thug in a picture and every crappy rap album has to have meanest looking pitbulls on it. The media doesn't mention millions of other pitbulls that don't maul anyone. I live in Milwaukee, we had over 200 homicides just last year. How many pitbull attacks did we have? None that I heard of. Yet these people are not banned. The sad thing for the breed is the humaniacs led stories through the media have made the breed very attractive to many of the wrong types of people, who then want, get and breed these dogs for all the wrong reasons.
Glad you are ok bro. Gotta ask though, wtf are you charged? Is it a state thing or something? I wonder if it's because you stabbed his tire?Sorry to get off topic! But is this an issue for anyone else? It happens to me when I first bought my house with Blue. I would take him everywhere so people knew I had a "Blue Nose Pitbull" as they all call it. For a week straight at night when I would let Blue out in the yard this car would just come up the street same car every time. With just the parking lights on all slow. And he would park until I let Blue in. sometimes get out of the car and try to look over my fence. I started hiding in the yard when I saw him. He came up to the fence calling Blue one time saying he was gonna take him. I ran up to the fence (wood fence) and shoulder blocked it caught the guy right in the head. He was stunned and bleeding. I put Blue in the house and went to confront the guy. He tried to get in his car I stabbed his tire with my knife and called the cops. We both got charged with a misdemeanor. Know I'm known as the crazy whiteboy with all the tattoos on the corner. Lol. This was all before my wife moved in. I stayed in the house with Blue fixing it and painting it. (Sorry for the rant I just get so aggravated that ppl would actually try and steal a dog) how low can u be

It was awhile ago but I will never forget it. Yea it's cuz I stabbed his tire, even though all my pocket knives are legal carrying size. The guy got freaked out and said I could of stabbed him. Luckily enough the cops believed my story becuse the guy lived no where no the area. I just had to do some community service. It worked out though I met a lot of cool people through community service. And the cop and myself became friends cuz he also has a "pit bull".
I feel the same way. I've ad my house broken into twice. My dog at the time hiding under the bed when I got home.
Wow, Steve, I don't think you should have gotten charged with a misdemeanor either. Blue is so forunate to have you.
