I wouldn't say they're common... they are getting more attention now as sport dogs. I'm seeing a lot more SBT crosses for flyball and agility.
There are a handful of show breeders out there but I don't like that bulldog type. :/

I used to be up at Petsmart every weekend volunteering and in that time I saw a lot of breeds come through by shoppers. Ive seen the same number of clumber spaniels, which certainly are not popular dogs, there as I have SBTs lol And that number is 2. I've also only seen one AmStaff and 0 APBTs... so that's not really indicative of anything since those breeds shouldn't be around a store full of unknown dogs anyway.

I think they are becoming more common than they used to be, but they are far from being common like Labs, Golden Retrievers, Boxers, Golden Shepards and even chihuahuas.

Lets say you walked down the street in a us city would sbt's be stereo typed as a pitbull by people ? unless of course you knew the breed just wondering because i saw somewhere alot of people call APBT AST and SBT "pitbulls"

Public perception is so off that ADBA APBTs probably wouldn't even be called Pit Bulls by someone walking down the street lol.

My SBT is 11 inches tall (smaller than AKC standard) and people still assume that she's either a "miniature Pit Bull" or a Pit Bull puppy, so I would say yes based on personal experience.

people are so confused as to what an APBT looks like. When I ask them what they think a 'pit bull' looks like, i get so many different answers.

most often when I get comments on Echo, my girl isnt a "pitbull". Shes a boxer.

True everyone calls my am staff a blue nose pitbull. It was happening so much that I'm contemplating getting a jacket with not a pitbull embroidered on it.

In the general population, no. In the sports world they are much more popular.

Americans tend to lump Staffies with APBTs as "pit bulls" so you never really now what people are talking about when they use that term. The BSL we have over here also, for the most part, considers SBTs and APBTs one in the same.

This post is a from a while back I was wondering if you have any pics of your staffy that you can post? I would like to see what an 11 inch tall staffy looks like. I like the small staffys.
